yet another reason why it's not worth playing standard

tricked because i see the pioneer masters logo on cards like audacity in standard so it makes no sense. Standard > historic > arena

you forgot
historic brawl > other formats
none of this cards expiring regularly and then being useless

historic is filled with arena digital only cards which are broken

glad i realized before i started wasting my rare and mythic rares.
That certainly is a shame. Wizards does a pretty poor job of protecting new players from this. Like most fremium game models, it is designed to give you great latitude in choices but doesn't warn you of the cliffs you might wander off of.

It might not hurt to report the experience to them via their site though the process itself is rather torturous.

Also to second what Argstein said but reflect that the humor might be lost on embittered or upset players. Historic cards are not mechanically nonfunctional but they do break expectations of less experienced players by doing things seem highly unfair or even impossible. This is even more true of Timeless. Explorer (Pioneer) is a more playable format but you should go into it understanding that most players are not in it for casual fun.

I love alchemy cards
This is gonna blow your mind, but Pioneer Masters is full of cards for... Pioneer :polar:

the discrepancy is that they have the pioneer master symbol in cards in standard decks but not all of them. which tricked me into thinking i could use them in standard lol
Limited sympathy here given that when you're on the Pioneer Masters tab of the store page, there's bright red text saying "Important Note: This can only be played in Historic formats". If you ignore that, that's on you.
Reading is hard

I can't think of any semi-competitive historic decks that run more than 2 different arena only cards in the maindeck and they tend to be replaceable, if slightly better than their alternatives (think goblin trapfinder vs unlucky witness or clockwork percussionist). A couple aren't as replaceable - Elenda is the much better option in most Sorin and tell decks but the big power level difference between Historic/Timeless and other formats is Modern Horizons 3, with a spattering of bonus sheet special guests (chrome mox is going to shake up timeless when aetherdrift is released).
