Magic: The Gathering Arena

Magic: The Gathering Arena

Cant craft with Wildcards
Some new Cards from the Set can't be craftet via Wildcards. That must be some Commander Cards. In the Sets before, you are able to craft them..

The Icon shows its from the Commander Set, Commander set isnt released on arena yet, while some of the rare cards are in the game to view, alot of the others are not like Will of the Temur & Ainok Strike Leader which are also new to the commander set.

The commander cards aren't going to be available until Tarkir Alchemy releases.

I kinda wish they'd bring the commander cards from the last few sets in too. But oh well.

we can hope whenever the separate commander/brawl game releases that they will add them to that.

It did make me wonder if them adding the Tarkir commander cards is in preparation for adding commander support to Arena.
Probably not, but if so, this would be one of the first steps of many. So if they are planning on it, it might be at least another year. But again, I still have my doubts. Considering one of the steps needed would be adding every single magic card to arena, not just the commander specific ones.

They were making a seperate game for commander since arena cant handle 4 player formats, them adding the commander cards is just a nod to brawl players since the formats are very similar. I personally hope its preparation to allow progress you have on arena to carry to the commander game once that finally happens but it wouldnt surprise me if they didnt & this was all just for brawl inclusion, which as a brawl player I do still enjoy.

All of this makes me nervous tbh. I was bored and for the heck of it decided to look for other types of MGT games, and see if they ever made a real rpg. What I found was a history of failed projects that never made it off the ground, a few games that did but were closed out soon after, and at least one like Arena that was discontinued when they Arena came out.
Will this truly be a separate game? Or will they give up on MTG:A like they did all the others?
Will you be able to import your inventory that you have invested time and/or money on collecting, or will you lose everything and have to start all over again?

I enjoy Arena, for the most part, but if they do come out with a seperate game just to include one format, and then discontinue servers and support on this one, I am done.
Seems they are as bad as Blizzard.....( I know, another discussion altogether lol!)

These fears were abundant when Wizards decided to publish Arena in addition to Magic Online. That time, they kept both platforms; they kind of had to, since Online cards can be converted into dollars, and Arena cards can't.

If they make a new game for Commander, it will probably be the same, keep the existing platforms and begin collecting anew on the new one. IMO, that would be a mistake.

yeah from my understanding, those older games were essentially getting updated games released as that was the norm at the time, those updated games were always adding or changing new mechanics to the same few formats they offered. The commander game they been working on is for a separate mode entirely so it shouldnt force any discontinuation of Arena or Online, the only change that may happen is Brawl may be removed form Arena & moved to the Commander Game as a 1v1 commander mode as at its core is essentially what it is. There is no confirmation on what happens to arena collections for that game, we can only hope we keep card unlocks from arena.
