Magic: The Gathering Arena

Magic: The Gathering Arena

Is anyone here to have fun?
This is a rant, but I would like to understand if I'm the only one who has this feeling. Someone is on this platform to have fun, try out the deck, discover its weaknesses and strengths, and ultimately to create good games. So far I've made about 3 out of the 250 I've played, of which 2 have been lost (I recently achieved the achievement). Most are with people who abandon before starting, who concede in the third turn, or who leave by losing time-outs. Staying on topic, I wonder, is there a way to play with selected opponents? And is there the possibility of playing with multiple players?

Thanks to anyone who takes the trouble to reply to me.

P.s. Translated with Google

I do have fun playing MTGA. Sure, there are frustrating days but then I say to myself: "Hey, maybe just play something else today." Having breaks in between can work wonders.
pretty much what PyroMail said.

Each day at a time, skip around formats until you find some fun, do that while it lasts.

MTGA is fun, you can get depressed just playing one game mode or pushing to complete the 15 game daily -that is totally unnessary cause diminishing returns beyond doing primary Q.

I usually just log in to do the Main quest and save my gold to do Drafts every other day.
Doing just standard games and buying packs is kinda depressive tbf
-Note: You get less wildcards this way, but it adds a bit more rng to you enemies decks rather then just playing standard meta all the time.
-Also can save up enough gems to get mastery page which gross returns the packs at end of season.

Keep an eye out on weekly events and things as well between just doing drafts and standard.

Lastly, chellenging Bots can be more enjoyable then players for testing decks as you don't get stupid wait times when your deck isn't control balanced for draw / discard / land.

Edit: Oh and if you got too much free time you can also draft up a 2nd account with a different color focus doing same thing - and with the new achievements there are clear goals toward opening 10 packs at once, mastery orbs, draft, and various color challenges.

there are so many reasons which spoil the fun. today it's mobile players who need 10 seconds for ANY confirmation action. and they play blue. hello, i'm on my break. mtga is (was?) meant to be fast paced and quick, not a chore for 30 minutes per game.

i wish the matchmaker would not match fast and slow players, speed should be a requirement for high ranks - know your deck or play in noob league where you belong ! also interaction limits per turn are needed.

mtga is the most unbalanced game ever made. how unbalanced it gets depends on luck. had few games where it forced me to provide wins, watched for 10 minutes how they play infinite combos you can't prevent.

fact is, 70% of all games are no real games, it's just trash. if you are happy with those fun 30% games you will be ok.

The first famous deck, called the deck, was a control deck, with a single win condition, Serra Angel. So you may be wrong about what Magic is meant to be.

the card game you want to play is yugioh

Arena is fun until you encounter someone who just plays counter spells until you havw nothing in your hand just for them to play Sheoldred the Apocalypse just to rub salt deeper into the wound on why i didnt concede after the first counter spell

On a serious note, arena is fun. Really fun.....mostly coz its the only outlet where i can play mtg locationwise.

I dont mind hyper aggro, though i play mostly various forms of midrange or the board wipe spammers but the serial counterspell users. They really russle my jimmies.

Most of this was mostly a rant but i still enjoy arena, could be made better i admit but so far i cant really complain about anything. Most of my match making has been pretty solid no complaints from me, ropers are extremely rare, hyper aggro here and there, ppl are somewhat friendly as far as emotes can convey, getting mana screwed is also a very rare occurance mostly happens once or twice when im on a 7+ winstreak for some reason.

I think the one thing that may kill arena could be absurd powercreep. Imagine facing a 10/10 valgovoth on turn 2 in standard , i got bored playing that deck coz of how funny/un-funny when it happened.

fun is a matter of perspective, people seem to forget that selfishness and sadism are real things that exist.

the person on "the other side of the table" could be having lots of fun at your expense.

i hate them.

I played for the first time today and spent 8 hours staring at cards trying to build a deck. :btd6thumbsup:

It's a consequence of the reward incentive structure. You have to play to win to get enough cards to play for fun. Which means there's more people playing to win than there are playing for fun.

Though that's just my perspective. Most of my enjoyment comes from the deckbuilding experience over the actual gameplay. But the game is very stingy with rare wildcards.
