I kinda wish set constructed would last more than 2 days.
Find myself just making a deck that wins fast so I can get my 3 wins for completion instead of actually experimenting.

Yeah, this is actually an all access event for the new set, so you can use cards that you don't own.
Damn, i wish i knew this before i wasted wildcards on lands.

Good lands are usually a good investment anyway.

If its the verges, at the very least, they are well spent.

but also probably shouldnt use wildcards specificially for short timed events

It was, and only one, but im not a big fan of green/blue in general and would have been happy to never have spent the wildcard. At least i have one for the off chance i use those colors later.
To be honest, I feel like dual lands are so essential that they should be granted for free (at least some copies of them). Paying for them with wildcards feels like paying money for air. But still, it's probably one of the best investments here. Dual lands that enter untapped are especially great, even if the access to the second color is conditional.

The issue with verges is they verge on being good, except when they aren't. I agree that players having a solid mana base is important but this is a capitalism driven game that we do not pay for with $ so our currency must instead be time, and attention, and effort and skill/knowledge.

That's what wild cards stand in for when we use them. It is a terrible economy, especially for new players but that's the business model in general. Give away money (rare/mythic wild cards have rw value since you can buy them with gems which are purchased at a fixed rate.)? WOTC would never do that without an ulterior motive.

I am for the idea but recognize the futility in such a wish.

Speaking of the midweek magic event.
I managed to get the "play no creatures" achievement through this event using some janky token generation and vehicles lmao. Thopter fabricator and haunt the network goes hard when you have things to discard.
I managed to get the mill achievement during this event, building a Monument deck with the blue mill rare as the win condition. Lost a lot of games, but got this done.

You can just import any of these decklists since it's an all access event for the new set.

you actually can't do this - it's real money only for the wildcard purchases in shop can't use gems
