Season vs Mastery?
So I've been playing Standard online matches, but when I look at my profile, it says I'm still bronze tier 4 and tells me I have to play a game this season to get ranked, How do I play a "season" game? Isn't that what I've been doing? Do I have to buy the Mastery pack in order to participate in the season? I thought those were different things...

And I see the season ends in a few hours (there's a countdown on the profile page) but I don't see anywhere where it says how long the Mastery pass is still good for...

Why does it seem like this is way more complicated than it needs to be lol

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mastery pass is till next Standard set, which is February I think. Go to Mastery and on page to redeem orbs/card styles there is info how many days left.

If you want your rank to change, play ranked modes...

I just looked it up. It says there is 41 days and 21 hours left. To see how long is left in the season pass go to mastery and then click spend orbs. I don't know why it's kept there. It should be a bit clearer.

You are playing in the standard que, not ranked. If you want a competitive rank, you must play ranked. It's just like other games with normal and competitive modes. That is the season being talked about when it says the season is ending. The ranked season is a monthly thing. At the end of ranked, they give the ranked rewards based on where players placed, and drops everyone a few ranks to start the new season to make people have to work their way back up.

I would argue the system makes sense once you get used to it, but it's not what I would consider intuitive. I wish they were a little more transparent about date ranges. I hope this helps you.

Thank you!!! This is where I was getting hung up - I missed the part where there was a Ranked standard in addition to the standard I was playing. And thanks for letting me know where to find the mastery pass timeline as well! Very helpful.
