Magic: The Gathering Arena

let's add "Good Luck" & "Have Fun" text emotes or both
i'd use them at the start of every match probably

toxicity is likely enhanced by not empathising with your opponents as a human being, so increasing communication could actually help

not at all
"gl hf" has been said at the start of many online video games since the beginning of time
unlike "gg" you typically say "gl hf" at the beginning of a match rather than the middle or end
i always saw it as a sign of friendlyness
i think opponents wishing each other "good luck" is usually not meant condescendingly

You could use good luck after you mill someone out, after you discard their entire hand, after your counter their spell for the 3rd time in a row, good luck can be used outside of just "good luck", same thing with have fun you could say it after you've discarded your opponents card etc.

both still better than "gg" in my opinion
i use these as an alternative to the old hello

Again I believe that some people like you and I that would use them for good intent, but as with anything I'm sure they'd be used in a way to make people angry as well sadly.

You could literally say that about anything. Stop trying to be a contrarian and looking for things to complain about.

What do you mean complain? Did it look like we were disagreeing about anything? Not everything is conflict just because we're talking about our views.

Yes, it looks like you are disagreeing, because you are. The only reason for your comment would be to imply that the emotes should not be added because they could be used condescendingly, which is true for literally any positive message that could be added. You have added no value to this conversation in any way, and only posted to be a contrarian and find something to argue about.
Add "good luck" or "have fun" or whatever, but fix them so they can only be used first turn. Polite people can use them to wish their opponent well, and they're unavailable for abuse by rude people who just want to troll with them.

Your the only one seemingly trying to argue, our conversation had nothing to do with you and we both didn't feel that way, your opinion is yours to have but don't try to claim that theirs conflict between us, k thanks.

i mean i realize folks could misuse these emotes in an attempt to troll yet i think the primary use would be the traditional start-of-the-match greetings

I think it would also be neat if they had some none-english emotes, or if emotes words corresponded to your game language.

gawd I hate how we can't have anything anymore because it might upset someone... like ofc they can't just ignore the thing that's upsetting them... nono, instead everyone else must be denied those things because "OH! I'M UPSET!!!"

lotta things upset me... guess we should just ban skibitiys too!!
