Releasing a new set with no bundles, no special pass, nothing. Is weird and disappointing

I have no idea why Wizards decided to release this new pioneer masters set with no fanfare but since they put in such little effort i guess i'll do the same and not bother. This is the first time since i've been playing where a set of cards didnt get at least bundle pre-orders... Disappointing.

They didn't for other remaster sets like shadows over innistrad. The main goal for the set is bring Explorer more in line with Pioneer in paper by bringing in missing cards. Like bringing temporal trespass to mtga for izzet phoenix and bring to light so that niv-to-light can exist in explorer. That's why it's called pioneer masters.

I guess Wotc is focused more on Standard sets- these ones have season passes, new cosmetics etc.
Remaster sets, or sets like this one (that are not new sets, but just add cards previously present in paper version only) are not their main focus, as not that many people play historical formats when compared to Standard. So they dont care as much about them.
Next Standard set (in February) will have preorders, bundles and new stuff.

well idk, maybe they didn't think the majority of people would be interested in cards they can't play.

the set is mostly just old cards they're releasing on arena so people can build their old pioneer decks isn't it? they aren't actually new cards?

I appreciate the extra wild cards from the free packs anyways :P

yes. more experienced players wanna play with decks they play irl.

but new noob players (who not even know how protection works)
think t2 is the bast format and don't play other things.

Last pass was honestly disappointing IMO since I already had majority of the cards and it felt like it was just a cash crap at making players with the cards open packs filled with copies of cards they already have, also from what I can tell opening a 5th copy of a card from horizons when you already have a full 4 card previous set you don't get chest progress, it's actually counting the 5th card as if you don't own any others. Now this new pack is just more of the same, sure it's nice for people who don't have the cards but really all they did is make older packs standard legal, well cutting out anything "fun", "jank" or "original" in favour of profit.

I barely have 70% of this set. And 90 and 91 % for the ones before that. For ixilan I had 95%

Just a FYI. Draft is the way MTG was intended to be played. Every set released is made as a viable drafting format first. Then standard Bo3, then Eternal formats. We get eternal formats arent as important. However it would take very little effort to add in a 50 pack pre-order bundle and some new cosmetics for the release. They put out lazy precon decks... The set had no hype, no fanfare. You get why that would be disappointing to those of us that play more than just standard right?

idk im torn. i dont feel like i should reward wotc for such little work. I have almost 200 rare WCs and 80 Mythic WCs. i could simply cherry pick the best cards for the colors i use and not give them a dime for this. I hope they do more next set...

I do not recommend buying the packs with cards you already have from previous sets, foundations is the only ones I test this with but I assume this'll apply to others, the whole thing is stupid, I have full 4 card sets of damn near everything in Foundations and can use them in standard despite being from older sets, but opening a "5th" copy doesn't yield vault progress towards wildcards and just rewards essential a 5th card etc. These releases have made me play less and less, I can't purchase anything to progress "golden pack" in the shop without netting a negative loss ultimately so I'm just sitting on my coins and playing out just dailies. Whole thing seems like an FU to anyone who previously spent money.

Well yes and no. Foundations is a set for new players. Its not for you is an understatement
