Sets are being released too quickly?
Hello!

Feels like yesterday we got Foundations, and now Pioneer Masters is out. This is moving too quickly, IMO. Bloomburrow, Duskmourn, and Foundations are great sets, and I feel like there hasn't been enough time to really dive deep into them before the next thing is released.

Edit: I took a quick glance at the cards from Pioneer Masters, and they do look pretty sweet. I still think the release should have been pushed back, though.

Completionist and F2P player has become incompatible. You have to decide which one you are
More cards more fun right?

eh i find it kinda odd that there was no pre-order bundles for this set
Pioneer Masters is a set that includes reprints of old cards that are available in Pioneer format (cards from Return to Ravnica, forward). In way it's not a new set - they're just releasing cards that were missing in digital version. This set isn't legal in Alchemy and Standard, so regular players won't miss anything particular.

The reason this set is released is that people are loudly complaining about missing cards from older sets.

Why are you this worried about it?

Sets are too frequent- i guess thats a fact. We will see in 2025 when they plan 6 sets, which is ridiculous.
But Pioneer masters are not compatible with Standard, these cards are only playable in historical formats (Pioneer, Historic, Timeless), so Standard players dont have to buy them.
Im gonna, because Standard is quite boring imo right now. The same decks over and over, hopefuly there is more diversity in larger format.

It doesnt matter this isnt a standard/alchemy set.

I didn't realise it wasn't legal in standard, thanks for bringing it up.
The main goal for the set is bring Explorer more in line with Pioneer in paper by bringing in missing cards. Like bringing temporal trespass to mtga for izzet phoenix and bring to light so that niv-to-light can exist in explorer. That's why it's called pioneer masters.

Why is it ridiculous? This game is free. What's the issue?

I talk about Magic in general, not only Arena.
1. The issue is too many sets too frequently. 4 sets per year is ok, but they plan 6- this is too many. In previous years some sets were not legal in Standard (from Universes beyond), now they plan to everything be legal and new set every 2 months. Most people dont have money to buy sets so frequent, and dont have time to even get to know cards properly. 2 months is just too short.
2. Good luck playing this game (paper or Arena) without buying cards. You can try, but lets be honest, it would be endless grind, and you will not have a good deck.
I buy cards and I want to support them, but im leaving Standard because its getting too expensive too fast.

This is my main issue with sets being released every 2 months. That and cards might get cycled out faster.

Personally, I'm starting to have a hard time keeping up.

Yeah i think we should get more gold if they are going to release expansions so quickly.

Yes. I grew up when they release a core set and then a block set (three, theme based sets) in a little over a year. IMO it was way better than now.
