Magic: The Gathering Arena

Can’t play Cauldron infinite combo on Arena
I made an explorer deck with Agatha’s Cauyldron and I think it’s actually good, but it’s unplayable because the infinite combo involves a lot of clicking. I feel like the timer used to not go down as long as you were clicking, but it does now. It seems really stupid that an infinite combo is literally unplayable on Arena. If they don’t want turns taking forever, then at least make a “demonstrate a loop” function.

Where can I post this so that WOTC might actually see it?

They don`t care about our opinions.

Nobody wants to play with you or cares.

Out of curiosity, what's the combo you're trying to pull off? Is it Training Grounds related?

you deserve worst for running an infinite combo

Yeah my first game tonight was the Bilbo, cauldron familiar and the other black creature that grows when you sacrifice a creature combo, I stupidly tapped out to play my Cosmos Elixir and of course had a removal for Bilbo in my hand, but I just blew myself up as the combo was just gonna go on forever till he could swing with his 20/20
Edit: I tapped out then they played Bilbo on their turn, still stupid and my fault but I think these infinite combos ruin the game

The timer actually goes faster the more actions you're taking. So drawing cards, making mana, looping things, etc. Yes Arena hates out combo in this way. It's been like this for a long time, unfortunately. Devs don't play enough of these decks to notice or care about it, unfortunately (which is surprising given that devs typically play combo or jenny/johnny type decks).

if you want to play combo it's always an exercise of finding the ones that will actually let you complete the winning turn. Sometimes you just don't have enough time to execute it before you burn out timers, which of course shouldn't happen if they properly interpreted the rules of the game. Or if they gave you away to show you have the combo and allow oppo to scoop in response, as in paper (showing cards is also an action they haven't implemented).

I wish the timers popped up faster and went faster tbh, it's funny in Eternal card game to see someone screw around and all of the sudden the timer is so fast they barely have enough time to drag one card from their hand before it hits the bottom, F around find out

I've tested it. Players can slowplay through every priority step without triggering the rope, but if you're actively making game actions as fast as possible it will eat up your timer faster and you'll see the rope quicker because taking actions and putting triggers on the stack actually costs you more time than doing nothing. You're also punished for having mana floating and tap abilities that you can use since Arena will stop for those (and cost you more time). Should it be like this, no of course not, but the game clock/rope is badly implemented.

This is ultimately why some deterministic decks won't be able to win in time. Let alone the ones where Arena spends 2 seconds per card draw trigger and ropes you out even though you've passed priority...

There's also the weird part where the opponent having an extremely long chain with you having no decisions at any point will eat up YOUR timer before it eats theirs, despite them being the one doing things and you just waiting for their turn to be over.

Yeah it probably starts your timer before checking if you can make actions or are tapped out etc and you lose a second or so each time it does this. It's literally just that happening before that check instead of after *if* you can take priority that costs time, it's been reported to them for years and they still haven't fixed it. What can you do :/
