what rank does meta start???
- I have 37 hours in this game.
- I have no idea what of meta (and i dont care).
- I have not read any card / deck guides (i always make my own decks)
- I have not spent single cent in this game and never will.

I just hit platinum T4.

So my question is:
In which rank meta decks start to take control of gameplay????
More and more meta decks usually means that "avarage Joe" just cant beat them.

I play constructed (alchemy)

I bring that up because i see topics claiming that this game is pay to win.
And clearly it isnt.
Those are faulty claims by ppl who are 100% clueless.
MtG has always been pay to win. You posting 3 videos isn't going to cut it if you want to prove something.

Do you realize how stupid you sound atm?
Literally telling that to person who havent paid anything for this game.
And yet just climbing up ranks.
Me and my friend in real life literally just laughed at you other day.

I don't troll. I just blocked him. Should people ignore you? Maybe.

to answer your original question, you might see a few at platinum and diamond, but not as many as people make out. even during the least diverse eras of magic you'd see 20 or 30 different deck designs at the pro events - the meta is easily disrupted and there's always lots of variety in it.

people tend to look at it at a high level - "oh mono-red has been strong for ages" - but even there mono-red today is often very different from mono-red back in the day (though goblin fling is back hahah). Everyone here was worried about a turn 2 combo leyline of resonance in mono-red, which is as far from Sligh (classic red meta deck) as one can get.

Post your decklist. No one believes you. Or tell me how much money you spent. Or show screenshots. Something.
It's easily believable, plenty of people who play this game aren't good at it and their net-decking is a massive crutch for their lack of understanding.

I play purely self brew cus I think netdecking is sad af (play a deck builder and cheat on the builder part) but fully accept it's what the community do and I consistently get plat no issue and always have.

You see netdecks/meta from the start, when I started playing I noticed pretty quick there was a limited amount of decks you;d come up against.

The strongest ones are usually higher up as they require knowledge and can be more complex which your average net decker would avoid as they generally net deck cus they want a easy experience and something quick.

You'll find a lot less self made decks the higher you go I;d feel as you need higher than 50% win rate to progress, but also depends if BO1 orBO3

Starts at Plat. Most decks below plat are jank.

Yes.
Im kinda disappointing myself. (more and more)
Im 1 win away from diamond T4 rank.
And i lost 2 matches against orny thopter deck.
So what did i do????
Playing blue/green deck......i crafted those orni thopter 1/1 cards for myself.........
And yes, they make big difference.
Rlly OP card.
Would be stupid not to have these cards in my deck.
This card alone can win games for you.
I cant say my honest opinion about this card. (because i start rant)
Also lot of players dont still know this card.
Because platinum 1 i see players who have cards that can destroy this creature, but what they do?
They destroy the first thopter that comes to the field.
At that point i know im still playing versus beginner level players.
Anyways, im not happy with myself by adding this card into my deck.
I try keep my deck as original as i can.
But if i face some of these OP cards (imo).
I will most likely start copy cat them if they fit my blue/green deck. (sad truth)

You dont understand what pay to win means.

Different people define this term differently, so I would say this term has no meaning at all. Depending on person, it can mean anything from "if the game is P2W, then paying any amount of money guarantees win" to "spending money, might at some point, result in some sort of advantage, that could let paying user win a match he wouldn't win otherwise".

this is actually how all non-technical terms work but nobody understands that ever so you're not gonna convince them here

Im Diamond T3 now.
And there is possibility that at end of season i will be mythic and i spent no money for this game.
And you seriously are gona claim that this game is pay2win???

Only discussion we should be having right now is how bad this match making is.
If it matches new players vs new players (and this way gives me wins).
Match making should not take account how much player have hours in this game.
So it would be fair match making.
At higher ranks, player should face players that have thousands of hours, no matter if the new account have less than 100 hours played.

This whole match making scene opens up abuse.
Cus experienced veterans could always make new steam accounts and then get easy wins by playing against newer players, so basicly opens up opportunity for smurfing.
This is just bad design choice from developers.

They think newer players should not face HC veterans in match making.
But same time they open up whole new scene for smurfing.
And game is free, so you can smurf all day every day, just make new steam account.
This is so bad.
Same thing happens in rocket league.
(ppl making new steam accounts, if they havent fixed it yet)

u can smurf but u can only win rewards for ur smurf account and the rewards for mythic rank are like "u get three booster packs".
