Magic: The Gathering Arena

Issues with linking it to my phone after starting on steam
I am kinda going crazy right now. I started playing MTG Arena in PC Steam and now I wanted to link my account with Wizard to also play it on my phone etc.

But I did not have any Wizard account so I created an account on Wizard because it wouldn't let me link steam to Wizard as long as I did not have an account. So I created an account.

But each time I press the button "Sign in with steam" on my browser now it links to a site telling me the email isn't verified. And if I click on "Send verified email again" there is an email linked which is just written wrongly. Which I do not understand. It is my email but one letter is wrong and I can't change that and it seems (I do not why) this wrong email is now connected to my steam account. So it is just messed up. I do not know what to do anymore. There is no way to correct this wrong email and I simply can't link it to wizard directly anymore nor can I cross save to play it on my phone.

Now I am kinda panicking because what does this say about the steam log in? I wonder if I would click "Log out" in MTG Arena on Steam and then start MTG Arena again would it automatically connect me with my current steam account and all is there as I purchased and played before? Because it never asked me to link my account it was just there as I installed MTG Arena on steam.

Because of the issues I faced now to link it to my phone I am just worried that I wake up one day and I am logged out (who knows why) and suddenly have a new game account on steam. Is this possible? Or as long as I started it on my steam account will it always be linked with it and access able no matter what?

steam stays logged in to the most recent mtga account that you logged in with
however if you do log out or get forced to log out somehow it would ask for your mtga account info again

there is no real "linking" between steam and mtga as far as i know since you can log into someone else's mtga account on your steam account with no issues i've done this before

my best suggestion is to make a brand new mtga account with your correct email then log into that through steam -- this should "link" the new account by remembering the login info and saving it to your steam mtga client

alternatively if you have already built up many cards or a collection you may want to try to contact the mtga support team through their website and request for them to help change the login credentials for your current account

good luck

But that is exactly the weird thing. Because I never was asked to link it to anything. Steam does this automatically with many games. Just blizzard or some asks to download their client too to register or register on their homepage. But here there was never a sign up aka register. So I wonder if the game somehow logs out forcefully or because of an update. I should normally be automatically re-connected with the former steam account I played on. Otherwise it would make no sense. Especially I can't even go to Wizards to enter an account if none was made from the start. And I can't enter Steam because it won't accept it. It wants a Wizards account and none is there because it was never made only connected via steam.

When you first played MTGA on Steam, you would have had to have made a Wizards account. This account is what you need to login to all other platforms, whether mobile or PC.

yeah I figured that out too now and feel so damn stupid. If my head wouldn't be connected to the rest of my body it would have been gone for good and missing already. I just messed up something that wasn't messed up at all I just forget the Email and Password I used. But after testing all possible options I found out which one it was. So stupid. Sorry for wasting every ones time

But one thing is still weird. I am connected with my phone (also the one I really started MTG Arena at first with) with the Email Nr1 (call it that way) and my steam is registered to Email Nr2

So my Wizards account and MTG Arena account is connected with Nr1. But after I checked my profile and wanted to add my steam to it and clicked the button a message popped up saying: That with this Wizards account there is already an account connected. Is it because it is already linked to it but why is the steam box not checked or is it meant because the account is already connected to Nr2 email?

Not sure, but if you go to the following link, you should be able to see what is linked to your account. You can then unlink it before linking what you want. But tbh, the most important thing is to just remember your Wizards account details and then you will have cross platform play. The linking stuff seems less important.
