Magic: The Gathering Arena

Magic: The Gathering Arena

FEEDBACK: UI should warn you about first strike.
I went to block a card and I had no idea it had first strike on it. Had I known, I wouldn't of blocked it.

The UI actually warns you of using spells against cards with ward, so it's not like they don't already give you helpful warnings.

I don't like playing MTG in real life with the cards, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nightmare, but because of the UI interface of MTG Arena, it allows me to get into this game.

I strongly recommend the UI interface warn you if you're blocking against first strike or double strike.

If it says Double Strike, its 1st strike too

Just look at the card - there is a nice little icon that tells you if something has first or double strike.
So the UI already has this, you just chose to ignore it.
I like how players are warned about "reach" ability. Something similar could be done with first strike, however stacking such effects could result with a mess.

Reading the card explains the card.
Indeed...

First strike and deathtouch, my fav combo.

it does use ur eyes
When it's the only ability the icon is visible. When it has maybe 3 or more keywords it's abbreviated and you have to click on the card. I don't think handholding in the way you described is necessary or good for the game
Need this feature. Don't feel like reading every card, every time.

I'm not interested in playing normal magic the gathering. The reason I play arena is so the UI can handle a lot of the boring aspects of the game, so I don't have to constantly read read read read read which is boring.

Arena is made for players like me who don't want to read 24/7

Oh, FFS - you don't have to read. Just open your eyes and look at the card. There are icons on the card for first strike, double strike, indestructible etc.

The game literally tells you in several ways:
The cards have icons on them.
The cards have text on them.
The cards have descriptions AND icons for effects when you hover over them.

I'm not trying to be rude, but are you actually upset you didn't use your eyes?

Im not sure if OP is troll or so lazy to hover cursor over cards, but he started really similar topic about UI warnings about indestructible. Come on, game cant warn you about every keyword on cards. At least they made icons for more popular ones like menace or first strike.

this thread is a necro copypasta of their other thread

all these keywords appear together at the top of the card text. u can at least read one line lol

Alright, hear me out...
If you think every single keyword needs a UI element, I'd like to see your design for it. And while you're at it, try to make sure none of them overlap in a way that makes combinations unreadable.
What we already have: two big glowing elements for hexproof and reach. an overlay element for ward. glowing toughness for indestructible. making the card physically floating for flying. another overlay for summoning sick. a stack overlay for "can't be countered", as well as different coloration for copies.

So now we need first strike, double strike, (i hope to the gods you don't need one for vigilance), lifelink, deathtouch, and whatever other keywords I don't care to remember. Do we also need the card to have a graphic for when it has a death trigger, or a "deals combat damage" trigger? Or even a "receives damage" trigger? How would you show all of this, especially together?
