There is nothing wrong to be the guy;=)
(Unfortunately the counter for that is any of several "cards go into exile instead of graveyard" effects...)
Run high value CMC ≤3 creatures (Gix, Tinybones, Adeline, deep cavern bat)
+
Self discard (Tinybones joins up/Lili of the Veil)
+
Reanimator spells (Recommission/Call a surprise witness/Kaervek)
Make sure to run some interaction of your own to shut down other aggro decks.
Very fun deck that beats out a lot of gimmicky nonsense (by being pretty gimmicky) but loses pretty hard to graveyard hate.
The strategy isn't super consistent either, so you will likely get beat out by more efficient meta decks. But when you get the T1 Tinybones Joins Up T2 Flying Adeline T3 Gix, your opponent kind of just explodes.
Discard players get smoked by this nonsense too. Though, the new cards that exile cards from your hand rather than discard are pretty problematic now.
There's a lot of hellbent cards in red, pierce the veil is newest RG, most give you 3 cards at least. You can't be forced to discard impulse draw.
Maybe return the favor is good?
Yeah, mono red's problem is they really need to kill you with their starting hand. They'll burn through 2-3 cards a turn for the first couple turns and if you're not dead or close by then they're screwed. Losing their Burn Bright or Heartfire Hero first turn can ruin them.
there's endless ways to beat discard the whinging about it is pathetic
There are plenty of ways to counter discard, but let's be real- drawing at upkeep isn't one of them. Even in normal circumstances if you play one land and a spell or two per turn and only draw at upkeep you'll run out of cards in hand before too long. A discard deck a card or so per turn can lock you down pretty quickly.
Please 75% of the time when playing paper magic with my friends I draw on my end step, cause I never forget an action or trigger...
