No anger here, just bored and fed up of Arena.

What is most irritating is that the actual concept of Arena is pretty great. I like the interface, the music, the sounds, the deck builder; it's not too bad.

But the way the matchmaking works now is too much for me. I don't mind being matched by skill level, but I'm exhausted by the constant "behind the scenes" manufacturing of games. I'm tired of Arena trying to make sure that the game I'm about to play is "balanced", that my black destroy deck will almost always be pitted against a red goblin deck, that my green deck will almost always be put against another green deck. These are just examples, but I play this almost every day during dinner and I'm just done with it.

If I go to play with friends, we'll just play whatever deck we fancy. One of us may win easily but then we'll change decks and play again. If during this, someone came in and told us which decks to play; I'd tell them to mind their own business, we're having fun.

Arena is constant background manipulation at it's most irritating. I'm not even trying to have the argument for whether it is or isn't rigged, WotC have all but admitted they do calculate your matches.

I don't think this is for me any more. I've enjoyed my time, but I'm really bored of the game deciding what I play against beyond just the skill level of my opponent.

To anyone who does enjoy this still, I hope you continue to enjoy it, but for me, I think I'm out.

there is no matchmaking-rigging only these wacky conspiracy theories

if playing as black destroy gets you matched often against players that use red aggro then how are the red aggro players getting matched against black destroy?

Paper Magic is miles better, but Hasbro managed to ruin that too. I just play historic now with what I have. Plenty of old cards to enjoy

Best of one constructed is the worst thing Wizards could have added to magic.
PLay best of three, build a good sideboard so you can answer any deck. You wont care who you are matched against. This is how magic was designed to be played. This isnt hearthstone. i get wizards wanted that Blizzard money but now we have a bunch of adhd kiddies thinking bo1 is real magic. FYI Wizards does not balance the game for that format at all. The match making and aggressive hand smoothing are only a thing in Bo1.
