Power creep - how do you deal with surprise dinos!?
I generally play black with various colour combinations. I complain that mono red can do everything haste, trample and even card draw! That's the killer. But recently I've faced many surprise dinosaurs decks. They essentially play a card that enables them to field a farm of dinos with trample that make tokens. It's worse than the multi-colour angel 7/7.

It really is incredibly difficult to counter. I have thought of counter spells but playing blue counters means as soon as you play a card and use up mana they can play these silly cards. To be able to place 5 or six giant trample creatures in a single turn is surely a problem, thoughts?

Thank you

I hate this game :)

depends on the format you play and how you want to go about it i guess, you could try board swipes, stuff like languish, cry of the carnarium, bontu's last reckoning (not recommended, but serves its purpose).

Ashiok dream render can keep them from searching their deck, if that is the issue, you can also try tasha (planeswalker) to maybe mitigate attacks if you use blue.

Be me, play an Angel deck. Give everything +15/+15 with lifelink, vigilance and indestructible. Dinos are now extinct, again. gg

As black you shouldn't have too much trouble dealing with that, there are plenty of cheap cards in black that will take care of tokens specifically. One that comes to mind for me is 1c2b Path of Peril, that'll destroy all creatures with mana value 2 or less; tokens generally have a mana value of 0 so that is an easy way to wipe them out cheaply for the low cost of 3 mana. As someone said previously, it is really dependent on what format you're playing, I play primarily historic/timeless now so my advice is with that in consideration, not sure about standard, haven't played that since year one or two of mtga existing lol.

Thanks guys, I play standard. Path of peril and wipes are not instant speed and so only good if you survive but I take your points.

Hahaha to the angels lifegain, yes extinct dinos I like it. I used to play white lifegain, it is very strong but I am trying to get away from white :)

I don't really have a great answer but two good things to remember,
* Glistening Deluge has that extra -2/-2 vs green (and white)
* Beseech The Mirror lets you play cards like Depopulate (tangent, but, one of my favorite trolls is to use it to drop Phyrexian Vindicator in a mono Black deck)

Yea the red/green dinosaur decks are pretty ridiculous. 8/8, 7/6, 5/4, 3/3 by 4 mana.

I wonder if decks like that is why the amount of absolutely degenerate removal spam decks are so bloody common.

It's good enough that I have been thinking of making a dino deck. It's just not good enough for me to have gotten around to building it yet.

It is a cool but inconsistent deck. If you run some kind of handhate it should be enough to deal with it.

I deal with stopping playing a game that has its shuffler and matchmaking scripted up my ass.

Wotc needs to add a T-rex with Ninjitsu or whatever it was called.
