How to handle stallers?
I'm in a game with a sore loser right now. He sat idle for 20 minutes and his clock expired, but instead of giving me the win his clock is now incrementing. Did he glitch it?

Anytime I've ever had an opponent that ran out of timer extensions and the rope ran down to nothing one more time fully it's always conceded I figured the game was auto conceding them, I've never been roped beyond that, so what are they doing to keep it going exactly?

I just made a thread about this too
Then saw yours, so deleted it
Yeah it's ridicolous
You can drag out games for way to long
You have like 5 times longer (if I had to guess) than in eternal
I refuse to let them win though
I just alt tab and watch some youtube
At least the magic icon blinks orange when it's your turn
So untill the devs fix this, that would be my best advice
Alt tab and watch some youtube or whatever
They are wasting their own time as well

this is a server problem. a bunch of bugs have been going rampant. one of them is an infinite timeout. I ran into it recently. Your opponent is not longer there. You were disconnected from the server and just watching a visual bug.
Joker Feb 14, 2024 @ 3:27pm
Oh right
I'm not speaking of any bug though
The standard time you have on a turn is ridicolous
And yeah, some make it a strategy to try and make people concede
It's like 5 minutes or something

Nothing. It's on him to resolve an ability but the game won't time him out. Is there a way to report him or the game itself? I think I spent a ticket for this.

20 minute clock in the event I was in, which is way too long.

its a bug...

Teach them to cherish time by using my counter stalling technique.. You are not stalling me, I'm cooking MF hotdogs outside on the grill during my turn dumbass.

You just put a 2nd or 3rd monitor up with a show or other interests... Oh, youre stallin? Well I am actually on ebay/amazon/youtube at one time so who cares. Slow players annoy tf out of me. Paper magic goes soooo much faster. Alot of the fault is on WoTc/Arena for not having game play speed preferences or not checking if someone closed their game, thinking they will return.

Chess bot game for me. No worries about stopping to actually play the game I started and at the same time I can just play the bot if the staller continues to be silly.

Though the client stops connecting if you do this at the wrong time. It will rope you instead of your opponent if you don't check every so often. Click this screen, click back there in a few moments, etc.

The game will absolutely time you out if you're being prompted to resolve an ability. You get the rope just like every other case where.youre being slow. The fact it didn't this time is just more of the same server crap.

1. Mess around on your phone.
2. alt+tab and do something else.

Each timer extension is 30 seconds. Even if you're constantly doing things, the game won't let you have a 5 minute turn.

New player and definitely have had people let their timers run, and for sure it's never been minutes. I doubt it even is that much unless you've just got a ton of time-tokens banked, but then those run out eventually.

Sounds like OP ran into a bug and it has ruined their evening. Best to just call it a day and get some games in tomorrow.

It wouldn't surprise me if some people genuinely think if they run the clock as far as they can people will simply give up which is pathetic....but more then likely it's a bug as I can't imagine the previously mentioned strategy will actually work all that often.
