Well you're not wrong. You have to take from the game what you want. I only play ranked to hit plat, then just have fun in non-ranked.

Ya it is, but that's card games, where you ever under the impression card games have ever been anything but? They are THE progenitor of p2w games.

That being said, this game is definitely cheaper than paper. Is cockatrice still a thing? just use that instead. If not surely there are other ways to enjoy magic without breaking the bank.
I sometimes play tournaments. I have yet to spend money on this game. What should I buy specifically that will give me an advantage over the other players in the tournament that did not pay to win? Are there cards that you can get with money that you can't get from drafts, packs or with wildcards? Or is it something other than a card that I need to buy for that advantage?
You mean other than instant access to cards that change the meta game? When new cards get added every 3 months? I'm sure you'll just mention how you need to treat this game like a job and do your dailies every single day and you never have to pay for anything which yea man sure. that is totally a way you can engage with this platform but believe it or not, this game is not a job for most and having the attitude of treating it like one usually leads to people not wanting to play for long. It's designed that way on purpose btw, this isn't just laziness on players.

And how do you build said "better" deck? by buying cards.
1. use the codes for free packs and with that free cards and free wild cards.
2. copy a good standard deck, make it and play it.
3. win at least 4 times per day for the gold, hoard all the gold.
4. wait for the next set to come out
5. hoard all the packs from the mastery pass, do not open yet.
6. spend all the gold on quickdrafts for that new set. pick all the rares/mythics. About 2 weeks after a set is released, we get to quickdraft that set.
7. any gems above 3400 that you win, spend them on quickdrafts aswell, until you have about 25% of the sets rares as playset. the 3400 gems is for the mastery pass.
8. after drafting and not getting as many rares anymore due to having most 4x, open the packs.
9. use the wildcards to get older cards for the decks that you want
10. hoard gold for the next set again

There's no need to buy cards or spend any money on this game. People who pay for cards get nothing that I'm not getting for free.

lmao way to miss the entire point with "well achtually you can get some commons and a few rares, so it's not pay to win despite the pay to win players being able to get way more rares and mythic rares than you ever will, and let's also ignore that the rares and mythic rares you get from boosters are random IE most won't ever be used.

I can get those for free with the wildcards I get from playing the way I laid out.

If you don't want to play this game, why worry about getting the cards?

Also, none of that answers my question on what I have to spend money on to get an advantage over players who don't. Meaning you can't answer why this is a p2w game.

I did this since dominaria united and I have all of standard almost completed without spending any money. Not just some commons and a few rares. I can make every standard deck I want to play. I can make all the meta decks. Without spending money.

I'm afraid you are the one that is completely missing the point here. Using this method, you can easily be 100% set complete on every released set without spending any money - yes, that includes 4 copies of every rare and mythic in the set. The key point is that you do not open any packs until you have about 2/3 of the rares / mythics for the set collected. By then you should easily have enough packs to complete them.

Easier if you stick to Standard, as you can ignore the joke sets (Alchemy) completely.

I did answer your question and like clockwork you just mention 'just follow these steps and play every single day'. I knew you would, everyone who defends these types of monetization methods does because they're already so bought in. I even said how you would and you mention your to-do list that you need to follow to go f2p. I'll say again, people don't treat games like jobs because its gets boring. You may think you being able to dedicate such a large portion of your free time to go completely f2p in this game is the norm but it is not. It by design can't be because wizards wants to make money.
