Matchmaking is completely rigged :(
Was really enjoying this game, won a good 2/3 , 3/4 matches enough to get up to platinum tier 2- then suddenly after a 5 game winning streak, I am matched with players I had no chance beating, knocked all the way down to platinum tier 4 and still being matched with people many tiers above me. I am completely stuck with no option other to fork up the money for more mythic rare cards to compete with all of the high tier decks that are almost exclusively rare / mythic rare cards. It feels very predatory, and after watching many videos on how the match making and shuffling mechanics work, I can't help but feel that it's the end of the line for my advancing in the ranks without paying up.

Lots of bad players are stuck in plat. dont feel bad. learn to play better and build a betting deck to deal with the meta. Also try best of 3. its vastly superior to the clown show that we call best of 1.

I like the fact that when you play a ssss tier deck for a day and get 10 wins in a row, you spend the next 2 month losing against hardcounters every game.

Totally random and just a coincidence of course

or you win 10 games in a row with a 10 second wait time and then get a 40 second wait time with an opponent that has all the fancy paid for cosmetics and "coincidentally" all the answers.

That's how the matchmaking system works. You do well, and you get placed against better players. Exaggeration aside, you don't get to play against Sparky forever boss.

This is a silly complaint and an even sillier accusation lol

Better players my ass. I spend 200 bucks every month and finish top 50 mythic regularly.

You do understand the concept of rock paper scissors? When you only play against paper when you pick rock, its rigged. End of story.

except that 100% isn't true. You have definitely played against other decks.

And let us for a moment say we believe you are a "mythic player," don't you think that there might be a smaller matchmaking base and an even more limited number of decks to play against? As a "mythic player," you should probably understand how that works. Its not rigged, you are playing magic.

lmfao "knows how the world really works"

that is hilarious.

Anecdotal evidence (with made up statistics) without the actual data to back it up is entirely unreliable and should be ignored.

A thread of people sharing real experiences... what was it that you had again? Oh yea! A servile amount of trust for Hasbro.

dont play more than 5 games ranked per day. your first 5 games should be ranked. it punishes players who play too much in favor of casuals.

lol trust for Hasbro? no. Distrust for internet randos spouting conspiracy theories? Oh, hell yeah.
Especially internet randos that "know how the world really works." They are the most gullible of all.

Exactly. I made a mono black discard deck today that is very strong, and guess what?? In 10 games with it i played against 8 mono red aggro, which is the worst match up even though i run many single target removals. I never face that many mono red decks when i play any other of my decks.
But ofc, idiots in this forum are going to say matchmaking isnt rigged and that matches are completely random, right?? LOL...

Its almost as if RDW is the cheapest, easiest, and most common deck in the game. Wow!

Yeah basically every deck is just a meta deck they downloaded online. Even Historic has this problem, like bruh why not just play standard, and unranked too, like nobody else is allowed to just play, because of actually wanting to play the game, because 99% of the decks they play against will be designed to be a non-game.
Let's try to think about this from another perspective.

Little Spike just saw this cool deck streamed at an event or something and spent the money/time to get the cards and try out his new deck. Who are you, or anyone in this forum for that matter, to tell Timmy, Spike, or Johnny how to play?

Who are you to tell us that we have to be a "Spike" and only play meta decks, so you don't play 99% of what makes MTG worth playing to begin with.

Also the point is not everyone wants to play against RDW for the thousandth time in a row or any of the other UNFUN decks DESIGNED to not let a game happen, in which case what's the point of playing magic, if every deck is designed for a non-game where nobody gets to actually play anything.

Why can't we just have one format, like even Brawl/commander (yes i know it's not the exact same thing, no, i don't care about you saying Brawl isn't commander.) where we just get to, idk, actually play the game.

So many people here like that talking neck, telling us how to play and saying we have no skill because we didn't just download our decks.
