I probably had 500+ hours on the Arena standalone client before moving to Steam, with over 1200+ hours total since 2018 release. Even though I have spent probably $120 or so in that time on Arena, ITS STILL A $.15/hr rate for entertainment. Name another hobby or activity, or even game that gives that kind of return on investment...
What would be lame is if they didnt let you collect tickets until you purchased, forcing you to purchase right away. Now THAT, would push it closer to scummy territory... but you literally get to farm tickets and before the pass leaves, choose to buy it or not. Whoopdy doo dude.
The definition exists so we all know what words mean when we use them. You on the other hand use "scam" to mean "whatever I don't like", which means your usage of the word has literally zero meaning for anyone else.
If you have a screenshot of it saying that now would be the time to post it. Otherwise no, they didn't change it, and it was never $28.
Let me guess. The definition of "hiding" now includes "sending out announcements to tell literally everyone about", because definitions are set by people and not stuffy dictionaries man.
Nothing was hidden. Nothing was lied about. Everything was explained upfront in crystal clear language.
You just didn't pay attention.
That's just not true. If someone is overcharging on purpose, that would righfully be considered a scam to most people, regardless of what Oxford says.
I do not have a screenshot. I think WOTC be gaslighting us though because i'm 100% sure it was there. If i knew they were going to hide it and make it just gems only, i would've.
"nothing was hidden" then how come you need to look for it in obscure newsletters.
That's like saying the armenian genocide isn't genocide because it doesn't compare to the Holocaust.
Ripping people off with manipulative deceptive tactics is ripping people off with manipulative deceptive tactics.
No, most people would call that a price gouge.
I really don't think there was a "pay with cash" option there. I looked at the store first day and saw nothing like it.
It's not "obscure" if they send one to every player.
That is a text book strawmans fallacy right there. We arent talking about genocides or holocausts. That is far beyond "scummy". Those are atrocities.
We are talking about you, playing this game for free, and expecting them, to give you premium items for free, or else it is somehow manipulation, without you even telling us why its manipulation. Extremely cheap take. Get a job. Save gems up. Its really that simple. You said you spent thousands on paper Magic in that other complaint post you were in.
I genuinely do not believe you do. Somebody that does would, A, be experienced enough to save gems, and B, not be worried about $15 to support a game they are milking an extreme about of hours out for free. Id say nice troll, but my gut tells me you are serious here.
You can call it price gouge, others can call it a scam, or both, it's not mutually exclusive.
I know you don't, and i don't have a screenshot to prove it, but i'm pretty sure there was something like "pay 20$" (or something like that) option like i'm as sure i saw that as i am that i saw it say it costs 2800 gems. It could be i'm mistaken, or WOTC could be gaslighting us like Fruit of the Loom with the cornicopia.
It's pretty obscure to have to read the newsletter. I don't remember any in-game anouncement or letter about it.
It's not a strawman, actually, and you clearly don't know what strawman means. You are saying that this is fine, because it's not "You know whats scummy? Putting a mask on and mugging a MTG player outside of a Legacy tournament and taking over $1k in cards from someone and causing actual trauma to a person."
So i used the same logic, for something else, that's not strawmanning. It would be strawmanning IF i said you were saying X genocide isn't genocide" when you clearly aren't. but i DIDN'T say that.
It's called an analogy.
Either you are blatantly lying or you didn't read my post correctly.
I didn't say they should give me premium items for free. THAT is an ACTUAL strawman, you are strwamanning my argument by pretending my argument is about something else and arguing against THAT and not my ACTUAL argument.
So it's kind of funny you accuse me of strawmanning by using an analogy, then you proceed to strawman.
I do not believe i ever said i spent thousands on MTG cards, although, i probably have, i think you may be mistaking me for someone else.
Get a job dude
So basically you have no response to me calling out your strawman and falsely saying i strawmanned by making an analogy, so you say "you have no idea what i'm talking about"
Where am i wrong then, in my assessment of how you actually are strawmanning and i'm not.
Let's start with an easy one, Qoute where i said WOTC should give us free premium items.
Whats the point of a response? You gave a grossly inflated analogy to try and diminish what I said. That is the definition of a strawman. You said it wasnt, therefore, you are just in all the discussions spewing nonsense, and I think if you got a job you would just kick some money into the game here and there instead of whatever this is. Good luck
No lol that's not what strawman means. Making an analogy isn't strawmanning.
You could say it's hyperbolic but i wasn't comparing the arguments like comparing genocide to scummy corporations or whatever. i was comparing the fundamental logic, which is the same. Hence not a strawman under any definition of the word.
A strawman, would be like what you and Kurt did, saying my argument is this weaker "WOTC should give us free stuff" argument, when i never said anything like that, and attacking it. THAT is a strawman. IE what you did IS a strawman, what i did is an analogy.
Also, how i am saying "nonsense" at all, you're just not reading anything i say. I am in fact objectively right, making an analogy isn't straw manning lol.
"A straw man fallacy (sometimes written as strawman) is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion, while not recognizing or acknowledging the distinction.[1] One who engages in this fallacy is said to be "attacking a straw man"."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man
Show me where i did that then. And no, an analogy isn't "refuting an argument different than the one under discussion" it's an analogy.
I didn't see anything about $28.00, but when they sent me the email, they did make it sound as though you could just earn tickets and spend them.
It wasn't until I logged in that I saw you had to buy the ability to use them.
It was a bit misleading in the email and disappointing finding out about the 2800 Diamond charge after, but what do you expect from a game that charges for every little thing?
It IS just another cash grab, but you just have to deal with it or stop playing if you don't like it.
That's just how it is.
Can't speak to the emails as I don't get those. Everything I did see was pretty straightforward about the entrance fee.
