Don't buy the ticket pass thing

The problem is the predatory battle pass that they pretend is some sort of "gift" but you have to spend money to use said tickets, in order to prey on people that either don't think through their purchases much or feel like they are missing out. It's scummy, it's predatory, it's a ripoff, and because of this deception of pretending it's something they are giving you for free (but you need money to use it), it is a SCAM.

You really made your own post about this? Dude. You know whats scummy? Putting a mask on and mugging a MTG player outside of a Legacy tournament and taking over $1k in cards from someone and causing actual trauma to a person. WoTc putting out a "more of the same" extra pass on a free game is not scummy lol. If you realllly wanted something in there, you would just get a job and/or save gems and put $5 to hit the 2800. It sounds like you have gotten a lot of hours out of this game for non/minimal money investement. Thats a pretty privileged position in the first place.

I probably had 500+ hours on the Arena standalone client before moving to Steam, with over 1200+ hours total since 2018 release. Even though I have spent probably $120 or so in that time on Arena, ITS STILL A $.15/hr rate for entertainment. Name another hobby or activity, or even game that gives that kind of return on investment...

What would be lame is if they didnt let you collect tickets until you purchased, forcing you to purchase right away. Now THAT, would push it closer to scummy territory... but you literally get to farm tickets and before the pass leaves, choose to buy it or not. Whoopdy doo dude.

There was nothing "ninja" about this. There was a news post, an announcement sent straight to your in-game inbox, the store itself, practically everything but a neon banner floating above your computer screen. And if you clicked on any of those, they immediately described how the New Thing works. I knew about the 2800 gem entrance fee within seconds of seeing the little ticket icon added to my daily mission; if you didn't it's because you couldn't be bothered to do the absolute bare minimum inquiry, and there's no one you can blame for that but yourself. Nobody lied to you, they wrote you a note with the truth on it and you didn't feel like reading it.

You mean ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dictionary definitions to cherry pick words to rule lawyer even though any sane person would realize words are used in different ways than the dictionary's all the time, equally correct because it's people that define what words mean, not arbitrary rules, because someone wants to use a word's definition as a "gotcha" and ignore everything else.

The definition exists so we all know what words mean when we use them. You on the other hand use "scam" to mean "whatever I don't like", which means your usage of the word has literally zero meaning for anyone else.

That's just not true. If someone is overcharging on purpose, that would righfully be considered a scam to most people, regardless of what Oxford says.

I do not have a screenshot. I think WOTC be gaslighting us though because i'm 100% sure it was there. If i knew they were going to hide it and make it just gems only, i would've.

I know you don't, and i don't have a screenshot to prove it, but i'm pretty sure there was something like "pay 20$" (or something like that) option like i'm as sure i saw that as i am that i saw it say it costs 2800 gems. It could be i'm mistaken, or WOTC could be gaslighting us like Fruit of the Loom with the cornicopia.

It's pretty obscure to have to read the newsletter. I don't remember any in-game anouncement or letter about it.

I didn't see anything about $28.00, but when they sent me the email, they did make it sound as though you could just earn tickets and spend them.
It wasn't until I logged in that I saw you had to buy the ability to use them.
It was a bit misleading in the email and disappointing finding out about the 2800 Diamond charge after, but what do you expect from a game that charges for every little thing?
It IS just another cash grab, but you just have to deal with it or stop playing if you don't like it.

Can't speak to the emails as I don't get those. Everything I did see was pretty straightforward about the entrance fee.
