You trade cards for wildcards and you open packs like in real life.

Grind out f2p or spend money to crack packs. Opening packs will get you cards but you might also get wild cards that you can trade in for the cards you actually want.

Win game to complet quests and get gold. Spend gold on pack. 1000 gold for a pack.

opening packs gives you chance to drop wild card which is token that you can use to craft card of any rarity 1:1. outisde of lucky wild card drops from packs, opening packs increases progress on wild-card track, every 6 pack = 1 rare card of your choice guaranteed, 30 pack = 1 myth wild card guaranteed on the progression wheel. you can also buy mythic packs that cost 300 gold more, that have guaranteed mythic card instead of rare from the set, however sometimes they can have rare wild card instead of random myth.

alternatively you can buy 4 rare wild card for 10 bucks or 20 for 4 myth wild cards.
there are also some new bundles that include wild cards.

typically 1 full season cycle gives you enough wild cards to build meta deck.
