Magic: The Gathering Arena

farewell
farewell needs to ether be banned in historic or nerfed significantly! it costs WAY to little for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it can pull. i mean come on! you can technically exile everything on the field aside from lands! how is that balanced?

Also if it hits both sides it should be fair. There are less fair ones out there, the sac 1-13 creatures, the destroy all above power level X. There are other one-sided board wipes too.
It's an old old mechanic that triggered when you have no cards in hand.

I have seen more people fall into the trap of playing their entire hand into a board wipe more times then anything else...

here are some questions to ask and things to look out for....

1: why does my opponent have 6+ land unused and a full hand of cards and they are not blue and have not played anything but enough to block my units this turn... hmm....

2: my opponent is just siting there with nothing on the board and is just letting me spam creatures and not using any control at all and is not playing creatures in response... hmm...

3: my opponent has board wiped me once, but I can put almost all my cards in hand in play next turn... they probably do not have a second board wipe right? hmm...

There is no great answer for board wipes unless you have a counter, just don't put all your eggs in one basket all at once, yes you will kill them faster but if they board wipe you and you only have 1 card in hand you are likely going to lose.

if you see your opponent doing things like not playing a creature or control spell when you KNOW they have those cards. then you should also note it may be a bad idea to play your best creature ect same with control in general, don't put it out unless you are willing to watch it blow up.

again all eggs one basket. if I can save 5 cards by using a board wipe and the trade off is letting a few 3/3 or 2/2 ect hit me and you play your big creature and empty your hand then that's not the board wipes fault... You just got greedy and fell into a trap. the signs were more then likely there. you just wanted to win more and got punished.

but hey if you just want a solution of some kind try Nahiri's Resolve, 99% of board wipes solved, won't save itself and its only for red white at 5 total cost. but hey there you go..

CORRECTION! farewell does not destroy it EXILES. there is a difference!

The difference exists, yes, but it's not as big a difference as might be expected. Bypassing indestructible is the most important difference, though you could also value it being more difficult to recur from exile than from the graveyard. To be honest though, the most important part of Farewell is not exiling, it's being modular. You pick and choose what is affected.

why you are debating about exile vs destroy? this card exiles ALL enchantments, ALL artifacts, ALL graveyards. all stuff in 1 card is stupidly broken and narrows 1000000000 cards game to just 1 does-it-all card.

Its useful because it can hit the thing you want gone and leave everything else up, its nowhere near as good at removing everything all at once hour of revelation is way better at turning the game on its head for just WWW if there are 10 perms on the field.

i think the bigger issue is not the card but how people play. you see, most people see unused mana and think its a waste not to play every card in hand until they have no mana or cards left... and I think for the most part people need to be more cautious in playing every card in their hand if you are winning and you put down every card to win more and are hoping to not be punished... well.. maybe don't put down every card in your hand. sit and wait. if they have nothing on field and you are doing 10 damage on field maybe hold off on putting out your best card to "win more" or you may just find yourself "losing more"
