MTG Arena is no longer fun
Every time I try to play this game I literally want to vomit. Everyone who plays this game always has to deal with several annoyances at the same time, players who roping, broken shufflers, brutal decks that win games in third land, decks that don't allow the player to play, either by making them discard or through counterspells.

I've already won countless mythicals, I'm not a bad player, but my victories in this game I'm absolutely sure were at the expense of bitter defeats from other players. I feel like this game is like the card art of SCHEMING SYMMETRY. A dagger in my neck and another dagger in my opponent's neck, whoever manages to "hurt", "irritate" "deceive" the other first wins. Basically, I don't take away the reason why hundreds of players roping as this game is extremely frustrating.

When I stop playing, and after a few weeks I start playing again, everything seems promising, but after a few weeks the game returns to being the same boring as always.
If you try to vent this to the community hoping for some understanding, it's even worse. The MTG arena community is the most toxic community there is, I've been playing this game for years and it's only gotten worse.

The conclusion I reach is that this game turns nice people into extremely toxic people, MTG Arena brings out the worst in people. You may not admit it, but you've definitely gotten salty in this game like any other human being. Furthermore, MTG Arena should come with a warning about the risks of playing and acquiring anxiety.

But perhaps you will ask me: Why go back to playing knowing that the game is a sea of hassles? It's simple. It's not easy to give up the addiction. MTG Arena is one of the most addictive games out there and like any other drug, even though people know it doesn't bring you any benefits, they continue using it.

Maybe Wizards needs to reformulate the rules, or maybe transform the game into a more strategic game and less a game of chance, because if they continue on this path, there will be no future for this game.

Well, when any game stops being fun and starts being mandatory, I think it's time to stop. It's likely that I'll play again in the future, or maybe never again, but I wanted to leave my constructive criticism here.

Agreed MTGA is the least fun way to play magic.

We've discussed this already, but for me, Arena is a tool for new set practice, like today, or grinding currency for freebie drafts/sealed where its at least somewhat good like paper magic.

So the goal is to shift your goals to draft/sealed/midweek/set learning as Arenas purpose, almost like a tool, and casual play, becomes a means to an end, rather than a dull and frustrating point.

So now, naturally, we make casual play fun. I do this by not playing ranked, and brewing random stuff. I have a deck called "5 color crap show" where I play 5 color cards and some random ramps. It has a 45% win rate, but it sure is fun to play. Same with mono colors. Dont follow a meta. Just brew a mono black, red, blue, etc based off what cards are awesome, so I have a mono black deck I brewed called "F U V2" lol.. It has a Sheoldred, obliterator, beseech, bloodletter, rush of dread, the one that mills ten each and pulls a creature from each graveyard etc. It just has all the staples. Now that one has a high winrate% like 62% or something, because its very difficult to go wrong with black mono when you are playing key cards, even if brewed. Eventually youll escape the mono and start brewing dual colored decks fairly decently and its nice not being a follower and just having fun...

Now, of course, I still play ranked because there are packs to be won and I absolutely sauce people with mono blue control and azorius control and its fun af for me personally, so I alternate. Few games of ranked, few games of goofy casual brew, follow my objectives, call it a night and boom. No issues.

Idk I love it, I came from Yugioh... Now, that is a broken hot mess.

My only complain is the shuffle System... there something wrong with it. I have ONE Caldera breaker card yet sometimes even when I mulligan 3 times it still appears. and the mana ratio per shuffle is wrong...

Play best of 3 and you won't have this issue anymore from what I understand.

Until you get a lame opponenet you have to deal with for two-three rounds emoting or stalling the games its annoying af. The fault at the end of the day is how much time people get to sit around and do jack crap so nomatter what happens, time is getting wasted

Idk, I’ve stopped caring about anything in arena and have way more fun now. Just play your Jank and don’t stress, it’s just pixels.

From my experience so far, in terms of who plays what, its

80%- Some version of counters/soldiers/gondorhorn. Green/white or white/blue

20%- a mix of everything else.

I usually only play it on my phone when doing cardio anyway.

I have more fun on Paper. Here in my city there are Magic stores where players gather to play and make friends. It's much healthier than playing on the computer against decks that may have extremely OP cards. Many decks that exist in Arena, people would never be able to have them on paper because they are too expensive and this I think also helps Paper to be better and more balanced.

The funny thing is that I play other games (obviously) and even if I lose I don't feel the frustration that MTG Arena gives me. MTG Arena forces you to win to be fun, and like I said that at the expense of other players' frustration. It's a game that makes you feel stupid when you lose.
I have 3 extremely OP poison decks. Many times I drop the first creature and the opponent simply gives up or roping. I don't really blame these people, some decks are just bitter to play against.

to each their own, some people would rather play players who have an equal chance to build a strong deck rather then win because they make more money then their opponent, Its the one gripe I got about paper is if I wanted to make one of my Brawl decks im looking at over $400 where as on arena I havnt spent a penny.

yes, arena is the worst, i hate it by heart, it's the most annoying game i ever played but still wanna go back because i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ want to play magic without playing an excel-sheet simulator

but this software is so incredibly bad, frustrating and unfun, it's crazy how you can turn the best card game to the worst experience possible

Most of the time I play 2 deck, mono red and mono black. Why ? I realized making fun deck are not allowed to win. Also I play until I hit silver ranked then switch to no ranking play. I have alot fun by seeing algorithm failing and winning :)

I don't let any of that stuff bother me. Either I'll simply concede or wait through it. I'm already here, wasting time playing a video game when there are thousands of other things I could be doing anyways, so might as well.

yeah... I feel what you mean OP but its not as bad as you think. WOTC is not doing a good job yes, but what you are asking for seems silly, a total rebuild of their game makes it sound like it will become hearhstone or something...

OP I strongly suggest taking a break from MTGA and trying out Yu-Gi-Oh master duel for a bit and really get a feel for just how bad a card game can get, come back and notice just how amazing this card game is at its core.

There is no perfect I win every game deck, the fun of a strategy game like MTG can be what you make of it. are some/most people toxic? hell yeah they are, all online games are like that..
