Magic: The Gathering Arena

2 questions Siren stormtamer vs Vito trigger and Etali vs Starlit Mantle
In the 1st case I was going to lose the game because of Vito but I could use Siren to cancel one trigger. The opponent had 2 creatures with lifelink, 1 that dealt 3 damage and one that dealt 1. I wanted to cancel the 3 lifegain trigger but I didn't know which trigger corresponded to which creature so I choose the first trigger on stack because the creature was left in my opponent's row. But I got the other trigger.

In the 2nd case a guy created copies of Etali and I had one creature with flying and Starlit Mantle in my hand. My opponent got Mire's Grasp from my library with an Etali copy and used it on my creature without the game stopping priority so that I could cast Starlit Mantle and make it hexproof. Can you tell me why this happened?

hey, this is kind of like the puzzle section on the old mobile pve apps, except we can't see the board state.
you had already passed priority when eltali's trigger resovled. Unless it was ETB trigger, which go on the stack, I assume its a contiuation the etali trigger that didn't let you respond. Would have to see the text of Etali though, if it says cast or put onto battlefield. Thats my best guess./

It does say cast so those spells should have allowed you to respond if you have flash or intant speed response. My next best guess is you didn't have the mana in the color you needed, I wouldn't imagine you were lacking enough to cast.

I don't have a snapshot for the first question. The creatures that attacked were Henrika infernal Seer, Marauding blight-priest and Vampire of the Dire Moon with Vito Thorn of the Dusk Rose being the latest creature on the battlefield on the right. I wanted to cancel Vito's Henrika trigger and not the trigger from Vampire of the Dire Moon.

Here is what happened in the 2nd case, I will delete the snapshot after a few days

1) For Vito triggers and other similar triggers which can have different values, the relevant number for them is shown in large writing on the top left of the trigger. If you were actively looking for the right trigger to counter, I'm honestly not sure how you missed it because a giant 3 on one trigger and a giant 1 on the other should have been a giveaway. Now you know for the future though.

2) Given that you had zero time extensions left and the number of triggers both on the stack and that had resolved already, it's probably just that you didn't respond to them in a timely manner and your timer ran out so you could no longer take actions that turn. And it didn't matter anyway because of the boardstate and even though they were down to 3 life, they had plenty of lifegain from the pilgrim triggers on the stack.

Ok, thank you guys. I never noticed a number on Vito triggers. And in the 2nd case yes it didn't matter, I was going to lose but everything happened instantly and I was curious why I couldn't respond. Maybe I accidentally gave him priority because of the many triggers but I was expecting a removal and paying attention.
