So you encountered someone playing Rakdos Joined Up.... if it bothers you that much, add some graveyard hate to your deck, or just concede and move on. It is not a very common deck because it isn't consistent enough.

It is somewhat less annoying than you spamming multiple threads with your whining.

That opponent wouldn't be losing. That infinite is lethal

Keep mana open and a removal for when they take rakdos joins up out the graveyard. more times than not the player concedes. Combo decks win if they hit thier combo. Its your job to beat them before the combo or interupt it. You failed to do this so dont say you were winning. If you were you would have identified the deck, kept open mana and stopped them.

The card is by far too powerful by itself though, is the problem, they keep adding this sort of insane power creep stuff to black.

What next, a 0 mana cost 20/20 black card with "if this card is in your deck, you win the game."

yeah, you can counter it, but like there is basically only one real way to counter it, and it is by having an anti-graveyard card, which is, 99% of the time, going to be useless.

B03 has sideboard but B01 has nothing really, and besides, it is in generally just way too over powered of a card anyways.

Assuming they're casting Abuelo's awakening to get Rakdos joins up back as a creature, then using that to re-animate Hulking Metamorph (the standard mode of operation for said combo) it's actually pretty easy to stop.

If you happen to be running graveyard interaction, you can use that (obviously).
If you're not then all you need is a removal spell.... Doesn't even have to be a particularly good one, just has to be an instant. Cut down will do it, Shock will do it, Tail swipe will do it, Get lost will do it, Fading hope will do it..... I could go on, but that's every colour covered.

All you need to do is wait for Rakdos Joins up's etb trigger to go on the stack, then remove it. It's been brought back as a 1/1 creature so (as previously mentioned) pretty much any removal will do the trick. Hulking Metamorph then has nothing to copy when it enters, & they don't get to combo.
The only trick (if there is any) is watching their board state to see how close they are to getting the combo, so you can leave the mana up for removal when they try to go for it.

Oh, I agree completely, it is a ridiculous card. Probably the worst in a set that has a lot of ridiculous cards that can set up crazy combos (e.g. Doc Aurlock, Railway Brawler, and Visage Bandit - I faced that in a draft the other day, or how about Brawler and Terror of the Peaks).

The saving grace is that it is slow and you can spot the deck's intention early - so you know to go for the quick win or hold back disruption if you have it, or just concede and move on.

Only seen it pay off 4 or 5 times against me since the set was released, so not ubiquitous by any means and not as difficult to defend against as as Kumano, Swiftspear + Rage, Godric on the draw.

I literally only saw it once, so i had no idea of knowing it was a combo deck and not just some sort of weird graveyard deck.

I run an infinite squirrel combo in my main brawl but i always impose a cap on it because simply clicking to win isnt fun. its just lame. Kudos to the 3 players who let it play out to the fullest though. Scurry Oak + cathars' Crusade. make all the squirrels you wish. its hilarious. pairs well with a few cards to become an instant win combo as well. Not a top tier combo but still, it is hilarious.
