It is somewhat less annoying than you spamming multiple threads with your whining.
The card is by far too powerful by itself though, is the problem, they keep adding this sort of insane power creep stuff to black.
What next, a 0 mana cost 20/20 black card with "if this card is in your deck, you win the game."
yeah, you can counter it, but like there is basically only one real way to counter it, and it is by having an anti-graveyard card, which is, 99% of the time, going to be useless.
B03 has sideboard but B01 has nothing really, and besides, it is in generally just way too over powered of a card anyways.
If you happen to be running graveyard interaction, you can use that (obviously).
If you're not then all you need is a removal spell.... Doesn't even have to be a particularly good one, just has to be an instant. Cut down will do it, Shock will do it, Tail swipe will do it, Get lost will do it, Fading hope will do it..... I could go on, but that's every colour covered.
All you need to do is wait for Rakdos Joins up's etb trigger to go on the stack, then remove it. It's been brought back as a 1/1 creature so (as previously mentioned) pretty much any removal will do the trick. Hulking Metamorph then has nothing to copy when it enters, & they don't get to combo.
The only trick (if there is any) is watching their board state to see how close they are to getting the combo, so you can leave the mana up for removal when they try to go for it.
Oh, I agree completely, it is a ridiculous card. Probably the worst in a set that has a lot of ridiculous cards that can set up crazy combos (e.g. Doc Aurlock, Railway Brawler, and Visage Bandit - I faced that in a draft the other day, or how about Brawler and Terror of the Peaks).
The saving grace is that it is slow and you can spot the deck's intention early - so you know to go for the quick win or hold back disruption if you have it, or just concede and move on.
Only seen it pay off 4 or 5 times against me since the set was released, so not ubiquitous by any means and not as difficult to defend against as as Kumano, Swiftspear + Rage, Godric on the draw.
I literally only saw it once, so i had no idea of knowing it was a combo deck and not just some sort of weird graveyard deck.
