Matchmaking is under maintenance right now so no matches.

On your second question, you answer it yourself, with "da fk" You have 13 year olds playing internet randos so best way to not be a moderation nightmare is to not allow chat, just emotes.

Thanks for the matchmaking update!
as for the phrase "da fk" and a moderation nightmare that would be a game chat - it would be easy to have a disable feature, and throw a online matchmaking warning (prob disable chat by default if the children are your main issue)

This is magic, part of the game is talking smack and influencing how a game plays out with banter. you can watch any chess game and its the same.

While this post was not originally about the chat.... i will die on this hill. GAME BANTER IS A MAIN PART OF THE GAME! Magnus Carlsen (chess grand master) is well known for showing up late and playing rather crude mind games on his opponents.

no chat means no playing weak or bluffing. it takes a large part out of the game and i just don't understand how the emote system replaces that....

You do you, but for me, both as a Dad of a young Magic player, and someone who thinks good sportsmanship >>>> trash talk I respectfully disagree.

I think its because their trying to keep it parallel to the mobile version. Alot of devs who do this see it as inconvenient for mobile players to type so they use quick chat or emotes instead while ingame. You can message people who you add which is only useful to a handful of people as theres no way to add random people because you dont know their discriminator code after the username, its not something that shows & there is no add button for people you play in public. For a game built on community interaction & requires the community in order to thrive, it has no actual interaction in it. While I get the safety concerns for some people when it comes to a public chat, I see Not having a public chat as something that hinders this game. There are plenty of ways to implement it to appeal to the majority (optional in settings, censors, mute, etc.) without having to remove the interaction people are familiar with when playing this on paper in person.

I understand the sentiment, and I agree, but you couldn't have chosen a worse example... it's literally a rule during chess tournaments (at least ones sanctioned by FIDE) that you can't do anything to distract or annoy the opponent.

I had a buddy in my play group a while back that would purposely mispronounce words to tilt his opponent. He played bant prowess in the theros/khans standard block and pronounced prowess as "Prowness" on every single trigger. Absolutely hilarious to watch.

To this day, I can still hear him in my head saying, "Gods willing, prowness trigger, dromoka's command, prowness trigger" Opponent successfully triggered.
is better now
