Anybody else grateful for Steam forums to actually criticize garbage like MTGA?
It's been such a breath of fresh air since it release on steam to actually be able to discuss the many problems this game still has without immediate censure from the useful idiot reddit admins.

Example: "Hand smoothing algorithm has completely broken other aspects of deck building and needs to be removed if this is a serious MTG competitive platform."

Human Bot: "Lel do you have spreadsheets from corporate to le prove your allegations? If not, get reported for le hate-speech in the name of almighty Hasbro, bigot!"

Seriously, up and down this forum you'll find all of the threads that have been conspicuously missing from the MTGA subreddit over the past 2+ years.

On behalf of the ever-shrinking population of discerning customers in 2024, I sincerely thank you all for expressing yourselves without fear.

Cheers.

Hand smoothing is an issue, especially when it gives people unrealistic expectations of how magic games can go, but I dont see an issue with it because nobody takes 'competitive' best of 1 serious and that's the only format hand smoothing is in. Best of 1. People playing competitively won't be seen outside of best of 3 because its the only way to practice side decking.

You're assuming a few things with this response:

1. What we've been told by WOTC about where hand smoothing is applied is accurate.
2. The algorithm is working as intended.
3. There aren't other measures in place to ensure specific outcomes in games.

I don't have nearly the same confidence in either the values of Hasbro as a company or the competency of the developers of MTG Arena. And if you're about to say anything about "proof" or "data," see my original post for clarification on that angle.

Nah, we dont need proof or facts or anything really other than just a gut feeling in here. I'll leave you and the gang to it.

Whether the posters here are right or wrong, it’s nice to have a forum where you aren’t banned for having an opinion on the game.

the funny thing is theres a subreddit for mtg (freemtg or something, for those who can post things freely and voice a lot of concerns and criitics about the behaviour of this company) which has by far more activity than the main reddit (!) - there are literally 4 active (!!!!) reddit sites for magic - everyone tells horror storries about each other, where people can get banned for disliking a card design on the main reddit to the typical hatred/misgony

in the 2 moderated ones from the company everyone gets banned or downvoted into oblivion, who will voice a single piece of critic and rumors are that they are run by bots or enable this to change the public opinion. is this imperalism or dictatorship by this evil company?

That's reddit though, superfans creating reddits for their fanatical interests, then banning/deleting everything they don't like.

Then the actual interest starts showing them attention and they double down on it while feeling "special"

Here, talk about how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hasboro and wotc are, how the arena shuffler isn't random and the "ai assisted" draws they come up with are just nonsense, how brain dead you have to be to enjoy mono red aggro, etc., etc.

Yes, but Steam isn't always what it seems either. It's heavily moderated to make some races look superior to others.

Oh? Which race do you think appears to be the most superior?

Elves. Elves rule over orcs every day. Even in Blood Bowl.

This discussion is irrelevant, seeing how the Saiyan race will always be the superior race.

I love this game *shrugs*
For the most part, yeah, although you can still stack reports and bans if you have too much fun on here whilst doing so lololol.... Twitter is the real free speech rip zone now, but doesn't have the same community feel.

Wizards is total trash though. We just want to play a fun card game we enjoy and they are min/max milking their players like a mf. No fun free modes on command. No promo codes in packs for digital currency/cards/fun. I talked about it on the official Magic discord and got banned by Wizards CEO Chris the crapper boy who cut 1/3rd the employees while taking $millions$ in raises while sucking the soul out of the game. How can I get excited that the local drafts are costing $35 at certified LGSs? Drafts should be $20, maybe $25 at some point for inflation.

Imagine if they treated Magic like a board game company would? Or even a digital version of a board game more specifically? You would pay like $30 for the game, and every set would be like an expansion, but it would only cost you $10, but youd get all the cards to play with and they would be well put together because they only did like four sets a year...

NOPE. Instead they act like its a free to play, when its really not. You are paying with your time to grind the currencies and barely get some drafts in. They want to do as many sets as possible, and any level of quality manageable, to pump as many Collectors boxes out, to inflate their stuff to the max so that little Chrissy boy boy can fly his jet around the world cuz he forgot his phone on that one island er hur hur hur

Man, Imagine if the government stepped in and capped those mfs? Nope, your little lottery addict manipulating mobile game is gonna hard cap their sealed and draft events to $2.5 and $5, sorry Charlie, oh I mean Chrissy boy. ESPECIALLY, considering they busted their profit gain goals by an absurd amount through Arena. People are just throwing money in and regretting later. I mean, what if WW3 happens and digital ♥♥♥♥ goes away and you only can play Magic in physical form, nuclear fallout shelter style?

Nothing even gets upvoted on Reddit. That place is literally just a corporate shill village now.
