Magic: The Gathering Arena

MTG arena is the best online card game right now.
Just want to say some things before I start.

My views on this game are not from someone who started MTG years ago or in RL ect ect,

I first played Hearthstone, played it for years. got really good at it, got bored of it.

Got into Yugioh for about half a year or so. attempted to play it. coin flip simulator more then a card game the more meta you got.

then i got into MTG and man... when i first got in I did not have fun...

I was so annoyed that i was trapped in tutorial decks and it seemed like there was no escape. rewards felt so few and far between a single card for doing these missions...

Looked around for a bit trying to skip the tutorial and gave up got annoyed and uninstalled the game out of frustration... (was playing yugioh that day so the fuse was already short)

a few days later I ran into a vid of someone playing MTG arena and it made me want to try again. so I looked up how to skip the tutorial, and that was it, I was now in and building my own little deck made of trash.

I came into this bracing myself for a bad time, where I would have to punch up to get some good cards and grind my way up much like in yugioh.

But no not really. To my shock the shortest game i played was like turn 6 to a red deck because I had a bad draw.

Perhaps my view on MTG is so positive because I played hearthstone and Yugioh first.

I did think I was starved for cards when the game gave me a pack to open. felt like I was only getting 1/2 of the cards or less then yugioh... and I could not break these cards down to make more of the cards I wanted like in hearthstone or yugioh...

But no. that's not true at all.. in yugioh they flood you with trash cards that are not viable for anything but very niche builds 90% of the time so you are always breaking them down to make your own cards because only 1% or so of cards in that game are viable.

whats amazing about MTG is I can made a deck out of just common cards and win a good chunk of games.

I would rather play against the most sweaty blue counter spam deck in MTG then a negate hell, FTK 10 min play my entire deck on turn one in Yugioh.

TLDR:

MTG arena is the best online card game I have played.

Yeah, MtG is better than other card games right now, and that's largely due to the fact that the gap between the best possible deck the average deck has a much much smaller impact on win rates. The inconsistency that some players complain about is literally WHY the game works, because it puts a statistical limit on how much card quality can affect the outcome. You won't get into a situation in MtG where you can't win simply because the opponent put more money into their deck. Yugioh decks are hyper-consistent to the point that NOT assembling a winning board state on your first turn is a result of bad deck construction (or literally not having cards). MtG, even the fastest and most consistent decks will fail to pop off early 1 in 3 games.

Hex : Shards of Fate, killed by WOTC, was probably a good base for them.

It's not Arena that is a better game, its MTG itself that is just a better more fleshed out game. Arena is meh, very poor coding. MTG also is kinda going down hill in a lot of ways. The mechanics are largely just recycled each release and a lot of it is just uninspired.
It still has potential but Hasbro is a poor medium to realize it.

hahahahaha, youre right. how deep this game has fallen - after so many negative topics 0-level bots upvote themself. would be hilarious if its the company itself, who does this. with their behaviour in this game (like hidding from all consequences) its not impossible

Agree. Not because MTGA is good, but everything else is just that bad.

Yeah, i also started playing mtg recently and this game does not have any of the problems that yugioh has. My main reason for leaving yugioh was the fact that they would nerf a bunch of non meta decks so you would be forced to buy the new powercreep pack or how they would straight up ban the new decks counters and outs before they released it.

A coworker started teaching me how to play MTG at work when we're slow, which got me to download this. I started out with HS and haven't played it for two years. Playing this made me want to play HS again, but now I'm stuck on which one I want to invest my time (and money) in more. MTG has sooo much more stuff to learn, it's honestly intimidating and props to those who play this over HS lol

Have not not spent a dime, having a blast.

Was playing for years back in Ice Age. I sucked at building decks, but loved the artwork and just competitive play.

Did not play for a long time. I tried Heartstone and..I don't know. It felt like you know the bigger version of lego's? For preschoolers, the game is like that. And the earning of cards in that sucks.

I played a bit years ago when arena first started but stopped for a while now playing again.

Best card game out there.
Game is always getting the best cards. But a good player can carry a deck far.

you will lose allot but you can grind out some good stuff. Just play a few games a day and see what you get. Just find a really good deck in your preferred format, craft that and only spend your wild cards making that deck (just google it.)

play the crap out of it and see how that deck works while building towards a new deck

I think you meant "bitter"

My profile is set to public, so someone is lying about my profile being zero.

Either Steam or you.... I'm guessing Steam since it's the second biggest mess after Mtga.
