counterspells most boring way to play this game

Counterspells usually `on average cost 1-2 mana and can counter EVERTYHING

Only 1 color can stop counterspells, and that's blue with their counterspells. Yeah that's so fair.

Interact with everything and no one else can interact, so good.

Midrange beats control, control beats aggro, aggro beats midrange. That's the general balance of the game.

For the record, the best control color is white, not blue. Black is also pretty comparable to blue in its control suite. And green isn't bad at control either, except when playing a mirror match.

part of what's pissing me off with this game. I'm a stax and land destruction player, and people don't like to play against it because "it isn't fun." neither are counterspells. Ask any player if they like playing against counterspells and you'll get the same response that people give to land destruction and stax, but one is hated by wotc and the other embraced. F that. give me my land destruction and stax or stop printing counter magic. You can't have your cake and eat it too, you damn hypocrites.

XD im reading all this with 2 diff decks infront of me 1. agro red only almost has 0creatures commander deck XD my fave. and 2 a mono blue favors creature/counters maybe 15

counterspells are in white's colorpie and all those "counter unless they pay x" was suppose to be white counterspells but WOTC said players find counterspells unfun so they made them blue instead.

Makes no sense to me.




Also green ramp is out of control right now and red/white do not have the land destruction nor the stax pieces to stop/slow it down. The only thing that can somewhat slow that down is you guessed it, BLUE

and I'm sick and tired of people telling me blue is compensated from the fact they can't deal with permanents while cards like Cyclonic rift can win them the game, yeah ok they can't "deal with permanents" biggest lie ever, Agent of treachery was meta for a reason.

Blue can deal with permanents, blue has everything, everyone else but green is getting nerfed.

maybe a "hot take" but green can be dealt with kinda easy if you build a deck that spits tokens out with very little effort from the player. i'm talking like at least a minimum of 5 to 10 tokens per turn or more if you're able to use an enchantment to double the number of tokens per turn. that 10/10 aint getting through if it doesn't have trample and when it does get trample then all damage can be blocked and it can be killed without any real loss to your board. you don't really need blue to deal with how strong mono green is. unless its a mana ramp mono green with scrute swarm. you need to have instants that remove it from play the second it's on the board to deal with that nightmare.

green can also be dealt with if you can destroy their lands

one game I had about 6 lands, the green player had 20, no joke.

a simple Armageddon would fix green real quick.

And it's not like green doesn't have spells to protect against land destruction either so they can't cry about it (heroic intervention)

I have been playing Magic the Gathering since Tempest, so over 20 years and I love counterspells. They have become much less dominant than they used to be - there so many ways around them at the moment.

I think all the good players like counterspells even if they are not playing them. Respect.

Not sure about this game, but I beat a blue white deck with a black deck a few times before using Vraska: The Scheming Gorgon and other legendary planeswalkers

it's just not fun even if we win.

The most fun games I've had were from non-blue decks

yeah they "nerfed" them quite a bit except for commander wash away is just broken and commander has access to all counterspells

In brawl people open with counterspells and expect a game? Same with discard, enjoy the peek but you're not going to get the satisfaction of actually playing a game against the cool cards.

You can legit tell they want to play against you so bad after seeing a few cards so just drop the laughing emote on them and concede.

Just got roped and stuck around, then the only cards they played were counterspells, I conceded in brawl.
Who's the coward? Just trying to play the game, not get my "must wins" from a f2p/p2w at any cost. Hopefully their free digital gold pieces go to getting some good cards.

counterspells stop broken combos from happening out of no where they keep a lot in check. I think they are a very nice part of the game and one of the staples that makes it great
