what am i supposed to do against gates?
the gates cards are land. if 10 of them are played i lose the game. you cant cancel land. you cant remove it from play. you cant attack it..... am i supposed to just auto concede? or is there a way of dealing with it? never seen this mechanic until now.

You can destroy lands with certain red cards.

Field of ruin, Demolition field
You think that's annoying you should have played back before Field of the dead was banned

maybe a counter triggered ability or something along those lines. The best way to beat the card you are talking about is to go aggro and beat them before they can play it. There is also some cards that make to where lands can't trigger abilities unless they are a mana effect or not a mana effect.

Demolition field - Brother's War set- a land that supplies 1 colorless mana or you can pay 2 mana>tap>destroy target nonbasic land an opponent controls> Then they may search for a basic land to replace it.

Ghost Quarter and Demolition field are both generic options that destroy nonbasic lands.
That deck is meant to win in 7-8 turns? Just be faster. Alternate win cons many times feel unfair, but they aren't going away.

Keep in mind, it is just one land that causes the win con. Get rid of THAT land and they are in top deck mode. Gates is a fine deck to play if you don't mind losing a lot but it is not top tier. Usually when I face it, I win long before they get to 8 Gatelands. (They might have 10 lands but the deck often gets duplicates and they run some nongates too.) Mainly the issue when you are facing a deck like that (creatureless mostly with sweepers and other nonsense) is to be patient and don't panic. Play your deck as best as it presents itself and look for ways to inconvenience your opponent's plan.

i play white/black and black/blue decks so i'll look for and put a few anti-non basic land cards in my decks to reset them from getting a cheap win.

i didn't lose to it but it came close. they had the win condition card and 8 other gates out. and had 9 poison counters on me and lost to a 10th counter because none of my defense token cards ever came to my hand nor any of my other creatures except 2 i think. my decks aren't built to damage spam directly. they're designed to either mill and cancel or continually gain life until the end of time while you lose life indirectly. and board wipes in both obviously.

thanks for the tips and suggestions!

Also Field of ruin, Demolition field are great as you can use them as a fetch to get a basic land if you're screwed for your second white, blue, black as long as they a non basic land to kill

Hi,gates playere here. With the new addition of Premieval titan, the key to defeating the deck is to be faster than the gates player. usually, the first 4-5 turns are just ramping with very little interaction.

Develop your high value cards asap and attack for as much dmg as possible.

Really all depends on what's in my hand and what is given to me by the computer. Let's be honest.

Yesterday I was playing a mini game while playing some magic. I called it, "let's see how many turns I go with only 2 land on the table." I went for the high score of 6 turns without getting anymore than the 2 in my starting hand and I had a pretty strong hand. But it's moot if I can't play my 3 cost cards with 2 plains on the table for 6 turns before the game was basically over. Super cool pulling every single farewell out of my deck for 3 turns in a row. Oh boy I can't wait to play a 6 cost card sometime mid of next year.... other times I can end the game in 6 turns. It's like 60% loss for me and 40% wins because the rng is way garbage.

Idk, I'll build a new deck here soon enough as I save up these wildcards.

You beat them senseless with a aggro deck before they can do anything. That deck is trash.
