Jump In Event or buy packs?
So I got enough to buy 5 packs or play Jump In 5 times. Not a brand new player, been playing physical MTG since day 1 back in 1993. But new enough to Arena, the only good deck I can craft right now is red deck wins. So for Arena, what would be the better choice? Really appreciate the help in advanced.

Packs for sure. You get wild cards and if you also buy packs from the most recent set, Wilds of Eldraine right now, you also get a free golden pack after a certain amount of packs bought, which contains only rare and mythic rare cards from the most recent sets. (No commons or uncommons.)

Plus, Wilds of Eldraine is one of the sets that can contain two rares per pack.

I've only opened about 10 packs so far but I'm running at about 40-50% of double rare or rare/mythic packs so far, quite a surprise

Neither. Save up your gold for quickdrafts. About 2 weeks after a new set comes out we can quickdraft that set. It's the easiest way to complete a new set for free. Also, don't open the free packs you get until you're done with all the drafts. There's rare and mythic protection on the packs (you wont open a 5th copy) but not in drafts, so get most of the rares/myhics in draft and complete the set with the pack openings.

Not everyone can win at draft though, otherwise solid advice

You are still better off quickdrafting than getting packs if you lose everything all the time. The ai passes rares/mythics, getting less than 5 rares/mythics from the picks doesn't happen often and the packs are 15 cards instead of 8, filling up the vault faster and you get at least 1 pack and a 20% chance of a second pack for winning 0 games in a draft. You get more cards and more rare/mythics this than when you buy packs. And this is the theoretical worst case scenario, you wont keep losing all the games, because practice makes perfect and sometimes the opponent gets mana screwed/flooded.

If you have a very high winrate with a specific set, you are better off doing premier or traditional drafts for that set though, you get more gems that way. The safe way to complete a new set that doesnt rely on winning (but still nice) is quickdrafts though.

For new players stick to Standard format and get packs.

Jump in from what I understand just has to take 2 piles from 6 choices and slap together for a deck, but they always have the same card pool, per pile. Unless you need multiples of a certain card from that pack and want to hope you can get it to show up during that time, I say just spend gold on packs because at least its building up wild card progress
