new cards?
So is there a meta way of getting packs so I don't have to spend 400 bucks for deck that is semi decent? I swear these starting cards can only go so far before its just me being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ down by phyrexia decks lol

Mastery passes if you have patience. And wildcards, but you really need to focus them on getting a high end deck .

4 wins per day gets you an average of something like 1.3 packs per day WITHOUT factoring in weekly rewards or the freebies from mastery pass xp.

I'm still building up my collection. Been pointing my wildcards at specific fun cards I want and basic stuff like mana rocks and lands. Decided a set to focus on and have been spending the coins on those. Haven't completed my first set yet, but I think I've got it at about 80%. It's slow, but steady.

The best advice I have for getting a decent deck without spending money is, NEVER play standard. It's the most expensive format, if you want a good deck. Because it's the only format that requires a significant up-front investment on a regular basis.

I wrote a guide, How you can play for free and still get the cards you want. It's still on these forums and it still works for me; I got all the cards from wilds of eldraine I wanted and a lot more I didn't care about.

not that expensive when it has 5 year cycle but yeah if you build deck in historic and explorer that's it, in standard some cards rotate out or get power creept so you have to craft new ones, but updating deck isnt that difficult if you have base staples.

Get good at draft and you will never have to pay money

Cards cycling out isn't why Standard is expensive. It's the cards that cycle in. The reason this impacts standard more is because of other formats' deeper card pool making power creep less meaningful; you won't find a situation where a good historic deck becomes bad simply because one set released. If you let several sets stack up without getting any of the new cards, you'll eventually fall behind, but no individual set simply destroys non-standard formats.

Do your dailies and crack packs with gold. you'll get enough wild cards to build a meta deck or two. Mono red and Mono blue are quite easy to make while you work towards another deck.
