Magic: The Gathering Arena

Magic: The Gathering Arena

To much slow playing.
If you are taking longer then 10 seconds to decide on an opening hand or if you are taking more then 60 seconds to fetch a land and move through the phases... YOU ARE A BAD MAGIC PLAYER.

The last time I saw someone play Turbofart's or Mill in a Paper magic event Locals or Organized was when Revilark was still in Standard during Lorwyn Block.
It's not a good approach to the game outside of Kitchen Table Magic.

I don't want to stretch my games out past 4-6 turns to accommodate something that will just loose in the end because they failed to realize at a core level that the base colors in magic are representative of phases and moments in nature.

Though stagnation exists in nature it often leads to pestilence and extinction and focusing in on disrupting an opponent to the point where your only clause for Victory is your opponent not winning is not optimal.

But I am sure that's obvious to most players who willingly choose to play Mill or Turbofarts. Because if they wanted to "Win" or "Actually Play" vs the Trolling they are doing they'd play a Combo Variant.

Similar to Turbofart's or Mill in the fact that it does minimal opponent interactions it just sits there and waits disrupts when needed casting Cantrips and Wishes until they have what they need. Unlike the other's though Combo top 8's often with the other viable archtypes/Primers Aggro, Burn, Control, Mid-range, Tribal Tempo (Goblins/Merforlk/Elves for instance)

Wrong, Library searching is not a problem, People who exploit the mechanic are.
As far as patience is concerned I out Esper Controlled Gabriel Nassif when it was Standard in Season 2. It took 14 turns battling for Card and Board Advantage. A few other hall of fame members since then and a few disgraced former hall of fame members. The difference between that match and what I was referring to in my OP is the level of activity of both players. I am sure most Pillowfort decks are quite honestly bots much like Gold Farmers in MMO's.
I told you a basic fact, that library searching lags out the game. It reliably hits the timer before ever loading the cards. You disagreeing with reality doesn't make your argument seem reasonable. And the irrelevance of your reply afterward doesn't help that either.

Never once in any season have I failed to find a card after casting a search wish or cracking a fetch. Just because you don't have access to those types of cards does not give you the right to complain.
Minmataro 27 OCT 2023 a las 7:48 p. m.
If i just made the deck and im learning to use it im going to play slow. Idc. I need to read the cards. Its not like im doing this in ranked. Its casual queue for a reason.

There's always bullet chess, where you can get wrecked by 9 year olds in under a minute total! Why not have a Lichess window open next to the Arena window for when your Arena opponent is taking too long.
hahaha, bullet chess is not my speed comfort zone but blitz maybe. I remember as a young kid in the early 80s, watching gms take down WSQP hustlers with 1m odds (the hustlers would get 5m) and thinking, OK that's not chess, that's something else. Bumper cars? Eh anyway, I generally just open a chess bot on the *other* site and play a relaxed game while waiting for the opfor to make up their minds/finish their turns, or give back priority on mine.

Never once in this thread was your response relevant to the thing you were responding to. I have told you the FACT that the reason library searches take so long is because the game takes a long time to process the search function, not because of ANY decisions made by ANYBODY in the match.

AND I AM TELLING YOU I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SEARCH FUNCTION ONE WAY OR ANOTHER GROW UP. In any case opponent using one or myself. WHEN PEOPLE USE IT TO BURN DOWN THE TIMER IS THE PROBLEM.

Your feelings seem to chafe easily. Maybe it's time to act a bit older then your

I would guess aggravation. I do that sometimes too. Though not usually with caps. Caps just look illiterate even though that's not usually the case or intentional. They do make a point though, loud as it is, though perhaps not the one they intended: Some people have more optimal rigs and connections than others. If the search mechanism is done client side instead, the rig may play some part in how fast it runs, and if the search is done server side there is a strong probability that a bad connection will make it super long rather instant-seeming. (I don't know which they do but I expect it to be the latter because security issues.)

CASUAL QUEUE IS NOT RANKED.

I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT CASUAL QUEUE.
I am referring to ranked modes and competitive magic the gathering as a whole.
Enjoy the block. I can't tolerate people who can't read or pick up on context clues.
I am talking about the RANKED players in Low gold to Low Mythic burning down
the timer for no reason wasting everyone's time and failing to progress there Card Advantage or the board state as a whole.

It is in fact aggravation. I do have some decent Computers. One a Z790 machine With an RTX 4090 and 192GB of DDR5 and an OC'd 13900K and Triple NVME Drive 1 Boot/Direct Storage Programs 2 are in RAID 0 for Projects and None-Direct Storage programs. some of the MMO's crowd might call it BiS. Another is an X299 Machine with i9 7980XE with NV-Linked RTX 2080's an NVME Drive and 128GB of DDR4 and a 10TB Helium Drive for Archiving and another is a x99 Machine with i7 6950X with RAID 0 SSD's and 64GB of DDR4. I have a few M1 Imac's and a few portable Linux compute solutions. For internet I have a 10 gigabit bonded Fiber Line because with games being 120-300 Gigabytes on top of IT work and Trading I do, I can't be asked to take hours out of my day just to download something at a few hundred megabytes a second.

Color me impressed with your first pc! (Do you remove your Raid drives for swapping backups??)

But this was my point. If your rig and connection are top notch, your ops might be a toaster on a snail line. Which would add significant times to loading their plays.

I replace them when they hit there read/write limits usually before due to perceivable performance loss with Seek times or File Transfers and the like. There all built inside a Lian Li 0-11 XL which has hot swap bays in the back I haven't really had a need for Hot-Swap bays post X299. So with my Z790 I've been tooling around with the idea to re-purpose them into Blu-Ray drives or just running an PCI-E Extension cable to them and mount a Hyper-M.2 card there to make replacing NVME drives other then the boot drive easier.

And I'm telling you that regardless of your experience, it is a simple fact that the search function does lag the game out for a very large number of players, even ones with extremely good cpus and gpus, and with good connections. That is why people are taking so long with the search function. And as such, you are complaining about your opponents when it is not them doing the thing that is upsetting you.
