Warning to NEW Players
You're probably here after wondering why the game feels...so rigged...and makes you so angry when you think you made a good deck, played with it skillfully, and got rugged pulled by an opponent who should've had no chance at winning. So let me explain how this actually works (I played in Beta - Dominaria to Kaldheim).

1. This game is made with reward and frustration mechanics designed to get you hooked on opening packs (aka loot boxes). This incentivizes you to spend more money and the more you spend, the more you'll be successful until...they rug pull you at the right moment to get you to spend again.

2. The economy used to be viable free to play. Its not anymore. They slow boiled the frog to get as much money as they could from the minnows and sharks (small and medium spenders). They don't worry about the whales because they spend the money regardless of their success or not.

3. The game is rigged. There's no skill to the actual game of MTG (which has been ruined by powercreep btw) except maybe 1 of every 10 games that may actually be fair. The rest are either matchmaking rigged, hand rigged, deck manipulated, or you could even face a bot/employee posing as an opponent playing on the same level. Let me say this again. You are not good at this game because being good at it doesn't matter. You will get cheated by the Yu-gi-oh Exodia moment after your winstreak. Then you'll find yourself on a constant 1-3 win to loss ratio until you buy or quit the game for a while, or delete your deck and rebuild it.

4. Research all the MTG Arena is rigged videos on youtubes to see it for yourself. Don't give money to this company or put it into this game. You will be happier if you find a game that isn't designed to prey on you. You have been warned.

Can you give examples and evidence of this?

try notice how much time you win becouse op have lands only or do not have lands, it's so rare to have decent game when both sides dont have sus issue with lands. I played a lot MTG in local club and with friends at home, yea lands issue happens sometimes, but not so much and with same pattern like in MTG Arena

There's hundreds of examples on Youtube. If you want to see the most egregious find Desolator Magic's channel and look for videos of "Rigged Arena". In particular there is an draft game that was either a bot, a cheater using a deck rigger, or an MTG arena employee getting a turn 2 win combo called "Blatant MTG Arena Draft Event Cheating Caught on Live Stream!"

Its not RNG the game is literally setup to manipulate players into spending. I said that and you just ignored it. RNG?! Laughable. Maybe the illusion of RNG. But you have to literally have never played the actual real life card game. The differences are massively obvious. The opening hand, shuffler, and matchmaker isn't even the illusion of RNG...its algorithmic with variations depending on when it wants you to win or lose.

Click Play.
Click the "Events" banner.
Scroll down a bit to see "Starter Deck Duel".

You'll be matched with other players who only have decks of Stater cards.

Enjoy yourself and stop reading forum doomsayers.

Hand and deck manipulation is a bit much, and there's no evidence of that.

It's probably just the case that they have printed far too many 'win in a can' cards that are absolutely punishing topdecks. So a majority of matches will probably be decided this way. It's definitely made the old-school Magic style of gaining value over time basically unplayable, outside of the highest competitive levels where players tend to opt-in to that style instead of playing bomby nonsense.

But the matchmaking stuff, yeah, you're rarely playing against the meta these days, just the opponents the game chooses to throw at you to counter your deck (so it feels much more grindy and oppressive than normal free-for-all Magic should be).

You wish people cared about you this much.

Research "earthquake weaponry" or "COVID vaccine is bill gates /charles schwab poison microchip". Tons of great info

Apparently employees do play it even says in the loading notes they will have a gold name or something, I'm sure they have Uber stacked decks, I've never seen one but then again I'm a filthy casual historic player
No he's saying there are employees who secretly"jack into" games and make them lose with cheat decks if they aren't spending enough money.
