Magic: The Gathering Arena

Is there solo pve?
I enjoyed the 2014 Magic game as there was a pretty big campaign and enough to do without playing pvp.

The next game from them didn't seem to have much non PvP at all.

Is this game also just Pvp? or can you play against the computer?

No, the bot only uses terrible starter decks, it's nothing more than a training dummy to test things on. Outside of the tutorial when you first launch the game (which can be skipped), there are no rewards from playing against the bot.

There is essentially no PVE in this game.

You can play against the bot "Sparky", but her decks are weak.

Thanks. is there much variety in the decks the bot uses? do you still get some progression for your own deck? i.e. do you think it is worth playing if it's only non-pvp?

You get absolutely nothing at all for playing the bot and it's decks and decisions are terrible, it's pretty much a guaranteed win every time
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

If you want a TCG game like MTG with good pve play Hex Shards of fate, but low playerbase.

Thanks for the answers. Maybe their next game will have some pve. I'll take a look at Hex Shards

Speaking of other games... you might be interested in "Eternal" by Dire Wolf. It's an MTG-like CCG (including having "lands" of a sort, color-coded themed factions, interaction during other player's turns, etc.) that's actually not too bad. They have a number of self-contained story Campaigns, though you would need to pay for most of them (with real money or in-game currency). Some are pretty gimmicky, and I don't rate the replayability, but they can be interesting and the bought ones usually reward you with unique cards. Also, they have a PvE puzzle mode, a quasi (think Hearthstone-like) PvE draft you can do (in addition to a PvP one), etc; and you can get at least some rewards for them (albeit only to a point).

It might be the sort of thing you're looking for. Though I do feel like that game banks on people wanting to pay to get the generally stronger rare cards, though that's hardly uncommon practice.

Hex shut down awhile ago.

If you want PvE your best bet is to google MTG Forge. It's fan made, free, open source card rules engine that supports like >95% of cards, most of popular and official constructed formats, from Standard up to Vintage, Pauper, Commander, Oathbreaker, Brawl, Tiny Leaders, Planechase etc. Supports Sealed and Booster Draft. You also have fully customizable RPG-like Quest mode, where you start with basic cards and slowly build up your library, work-in-progress Adventure Mode heavily inspired by Microprose's Shandalar from '90, Puzzle Mode and Gauntlet Mode. If you want to give a try get also forge launcher for daily auto-snapshot-udates. Game isn't flashy as Arena, but if you only care about playing cards and brewing your own deck without spending money then it's great alternative.
