Managed that once with Orcish Bowmasters... unfortunately he had a kill spell ready and like three more Sheoldreds, and I didn't build the deck with that counter in mind so I didn't have any more Bowmasters.
The drawback is so little that it doesn't matter. Either you find a new ring and replace it or you find the answer to the opponents threats and negate the damage that way.
Go look at your "almost singletons" ring and wake up some place ugly.
I've won multiple games because my opponent's ring killed them.
Don't get me wrong, it is a very powerful card, but it's only as popular as it is because it is colourless. If it were Blue, then it wouldn't be played in most of the decks that currently play it.
Two points:
1.) I've been on the receiving end and the dealing end of the 3+ Sheoldreds in a game. The third one usually results in the other person conceding.
2.) Wanna piss off your opponent! Orcish Bowmasters, Basilisk Collar, and Howling Mine. Every one of their turns you can kill their biggest threat during their draw step. God forbid they have card draw themself. You can machine gun their entire board.
Don't think I have the latter two cards (been playing less than a month). What sets are they in?
Huh. ... I'm not sure. They might have been in a Jump Start or Anthology set.
I looked it up:
Howling Mine is part of the Brother's War Retro Artifacts. You get one per pack, but they are not Standard Legal.
Basilisk Collar is from Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate. Also not standard legal.
Thanks!
His Quickening wasn't even a tingle for me 😐

Meh, every alch game is 4 one rings and 4 sheoldreds with tons of return from grave and every destroy a creature card you can think of.
It gets old as hell since you need to always be able to kill a sheoldred at a moments notice or you loose. Even stuff like mass discard they will still probably be able to get a few in and you're back to screwed.
I don't know why the ♥♥♥♥ people are acting like it's 1 card that protects you once, that's not the issue with how annoying it is, there's always 4 of them to counterbalance its damage and win with sheoldred..
I guess if you're a historic deviant you have much bigger issues, but eh, that playerbase is so small compared to standard/alch..
