Help! Stuck in wall.
Well met!

I have a serious issue. I am used to quicksaving a lot; did 2 quicksaves in a hallway in the Council of Seven area, before the Succubus fight. When I quickload, I immediately get teleported behind the walls, out of the map. I don't have the pyramids, I don't have the spell that lets you swap location with enemies, but even if I did, because the enemies are "behind" the wall, I can't see them. Special Move doesn't work either.

Any suggestions? I really wouldn't like starting the game all over again, as I haven't used regular save games at all. :( This happened to me 4 years ago as well, when the stolen elven staff got outside of game map.

Thanks!

There is a way to edit your character's location: Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor[www.larian.com]. If you are not comfortable hex editing, you can zip the data.000 file in your latest save and email it to me (raze@larian.com).
Each save is a separate subfolder in the '..\SteamApps\common\divine_divinity\savegames' folder.

You could try getting as close to a wall as possible again, save and reload (if you moved north loading the quicksave, try on the southern side of a wall, etc), or maybe try Alt-Tabbing out of the game and then back (in Beyond Divinity that could shift character positions slightly, but I don't know if that would work for DD).

There can sometimes be a slight gap in the north west corner when two walls meet, which can let you see through, or toss a teleporter stone or use the swap places special move. There is a spot outside Kistandalius' shop in Ars Magicana where you can see inside, for example. I don't know if there is a location like that in the council hall, though, even if you had the teleporters or the swap places special move.

There is also a trick file swapping to temporarily put a character somewhere that you can use to place a teleporter stone, but since you haven't got the teleporter stones back yet, this likely wouldn't work, and if you replaced a file, loaded the save, retrieved the stones (completing a quest), re-saved and replaced the original file, it could cause problems (you'd at least loose the experience for completing the quest).

Thanks a lot for your answer!

I've managed to get get on map by repeating the process that bugged my character in the first place. I saved when I was near a wall, and when I loaded the game, I was back in the map.

Thanks again for your thorough answer.
