A tool to convert other fonts to .FNT for DD ??

I found a download for this hi-res / larger font patch sitting on my drive that I apparently got some time ago, but don't remember from where or when, so I gave the high-resolution font replacement a try and while it looked good for the most part, the blue text for parchments was an eye-sore. I think the creator said they couldn't find another font that looked good but I have found one or two free ones that mimic the handwriting font Larian used, pretty well close enough..

But I cannot for the life of me find a tool that is free, that will convert between TTF fonts to .FNT (bitmap?) fonts. Lots of programs don't even appear to list it as a supported extension which is also aggravating.

Is there such a tool out there? And for the matter are there any extensively written modding documents for the game? Maybe something that lists what each font file is used for besides the couple of files that are replaced, and the generic categories they are described as replacing?

Anyway, I found a pretty nice Handwriting font I would like to test if anyone actually has the knowledge and tools to convert it to the proper format.

I tried looking for a free font editor some time ago, and didn't have any success. It doesn't help that there appear to be multiple font formats that use the fnt extension.
