The story pdf is included in the Steam version. The soundtrack can be downloaded from the composer's site or extracted from the game files.

Manual, prequel story and soundtrack for free (old post; may be some broken links)

The Divine Divinity Music Extractor[members.shaw.ca] (72KB) by BrainBox will extract all of the music in the game in ogg format. However, it was written for the disk release of the game, and when given the main install folder, looks for the music in the path '..\Run\Data\Sound.cmp'; the download version of the game got rid of the 'run' folder, so you would have to copy/move the Sound.cmp file to the path the program is expecting.

The composer Kirill Pokrovsky[www.kirillpokrovsky.com] has the DD soundtrack (and more) on his website in mp3 format.

There are a couple pieces available on the Divine Divinity music[larian.com] page, and that site has some artwork and wallpapers, etc, as well. Some of the fan sites listed there had a lot of art and screenshots, but I didn't check to see if any were still online.

The Divine Divinity Music Extractor seems to be down ("Members Webspace has been retired"). The downloads on the website are only in bit rate 128k. Is there any chance to get the music in a higher bit rate, like 320k, lossless .wav or .flac? How is the quality on GOG?

45 mp3 files in 168Mb archive. 127 kb/s quality (very low even for mp3). also tracks have no title. I'd say they uploaded what they had in game, it's not anything special. in 2002 mp3s with 128 kb/s were the baseline for quality.

Thank you, I only wish the raw audio files would appear someday.

youtube can find all ost "divine divinity ost"

True, but the Youtube quality usually is even worse, because audio information is lost when creating the video in a lossy format and then there is more loss caused by Youtube's own compression after uploading. That's what I meant with "raw audio files": I hope that someone recovers the original uncompressed recordings. Since the ingame audio is already compressed, it seems not very likely that the originals still exist. But there could be ways to recreate them. One method would be something like audio super resolution upsampling with neural networks[kuleshov.github.io].

Oh man, I want the soundtrack for this game in higher quality so bad, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I hope it turns up someday.

Me too, these tracks are so memorable.

hardly it can happen, if I'm not mistaken the composer of this music is dead (car incident? I don't recall what happened to him). you can google Kirill Pokrovsky.

Yes, unfortunately the composer[kirillpokrovsky.de] has passed away, but that doesn't mean his music is lost for good. There are some possible options:
  • The .ogg files can be extracted from the game. They seem to have a better audio spectrum than the .mp3s but they still have a low bitrate. Sadly the download for the extraction tool to do that is missing.
  • Maybe the original recordings appear in .wav quality on someone's harddrive
  • Someone somehow recreates the recordings, maybe the HQ source files / samples still exist somewhere.
  • AI and neural networks are making progress. It is possible to upsample the lossy audio files[kuleshov.github.io] and create a super resolution version that includes more audio informations based on an educated guess of a trained neural network.
If you want to get an idea of the audio quality, here is a spectrographic comparison of the mp3 files with the ogg files:

If you want the OGG files which seem to have better sound quality as you can see in my video you can extract them from the game. For this you need the tool DDMusicExtractor.exe. Raze from the Larian team was kind enough to provide me with the file. Since his old link is down, I re-uploaded it:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/j367nossob8kr83/DDExtract.zip?dl=0
(If Larian no longer wants it online, I will of course delete it.)

And if you want a more complete list of all the tracks, check out this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/214170/discussions/0/3276943773300689916/

Oh, thanks for uploading the extractor, man.
I saw your post when the guy commented yesterday and was sad that it was lost, but looks like you found it since 2022. Thanks again!
