Cannot enter the secret developer dungeon

I believe I have all necessary items-
1. Silver Breastplate.
2. 4/8 rope
3. 2002 coins
4. 5 bottles of dwarven ale from Rimmer.

And have left one teleporter pyramid near the portal.

I tried initially with 4 rope other than the ones in the dungeon and 3 stacks of coin. Then I tried taking along the 4 rope in the dungeon alongside the ones I brought. Then I did with both combinations of rope again, this time reducing the coin in my inventory to one stack of 2002 while dropping the others, while the silver breastplate was equipped the first time and in inventory in the second try(of trying with 2002 coin). Always teleport outside the dungeon. I was wondering in specific items in inventory block the teleport to the secret area. In any case it is frustrating. I could provide specific info if I'm missing something important here- about the conditions of inventory or something else.

Replaying after 20 years, and I had the same problem. Are you sure it's Rimmer's Ale? I tried about 10 times, dropped EVERYTHING outside the cave except what I needed and still didn't work. I decided to go back to Rimmer and make sure it was his ale. IT WORKED! Now I have my Larian Armor! Good luck, I played through quickly the first time, now I'm questing for ALL the quests. Have fun!

I've finished the game, but with a normal plate armor with 5 charm slots. Rimmer gave me the 5 ale as a reward for a quest right before the dungeon attempt, so I'm sure. Further I didn't try discarding the ale and specifically purchasing ale from Rimmer rather than trying to use the Ale he gives for free.

It didn't really hurt me in the end. Except the time lost and the frustration in my unsuccessful attempts. I was able to buff my character by other means.
