How mandatory is the evade trap skill?
I mean for completing every quest in the game? I'm currently at the Cursed Abbey and I can't survive the traps in the basement (even if I heal up after every trap, there's one part that just annihilates me). Would it be more advisable to put points into this skill or is it possible to tank them with enough HP?

Traps seem rare and usually aren't too deadly. Personally I wouldn't invest in it. Which I realized is it seems that resistances help alot. For example I have around 80 Poison resistance and poison doesn't seem to hurt me anymore.

It is not mandatory. The Cursed Abbey is probably the worst place for traps, but they are not necessarily an issue if you are a high enough level, or have good equipment, etc.

Aura of Guarding and Spell Shield can help (I maxed both with purchased spell books), the former absorbing physical damage and the latter magical damage and poison.

Check your resistances. The survivor's Magic Barrier skill can help, but you should eventually have high enough resistances from equipment bonuses.

Thank you for the responses. I went and leveled a bit, then came back to the abbey and had no trouble getting through the traps, so I guess this skill isn't that necessary.
