Skill point allocation

How do you tell how many skill points to allocate since from what I can tell you can gain skill levels from quests and other places? Just plan on mostly following http://larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=45822&an= but unsure how many points to allocate into each skill.

Under "where to learn skills for free".

Also, you can learn mage spells from books, but not any of the Warrior and Survivor skills.

Thanks for the link, helps a lot that most of the skills I don't need to worry about that. If you already learned that skill does it just add to the skill level?

Yes ... say you have level 2 already ... +1 ... = Level 3
