Graphics Problem on Win 10
Here's the problem I am experiencing: http://i.imgur.com/1FB2kDH.png

So I recently became a pretty big fan of the Divinty Franchise and I decided I wanted to go back to it's roots and play Divine Divinity. Unfortunately I have ran into the problem above. Originally I was suffering from really bad frame rate issues when any npc or I was moving. I looked up a fixed that had me switch from DirectX to Software mode. And not only my load times were signifcantly quicker, but everything ran completely butterey smooth.

Now instead of suffering from framerate issues, I am now experiencing npcs and assest being completely black inside buildings, and objects like trees and bushes being stuck in that 'fog of war black'. I have tried verifying the cache through steam, I have tried the Alphabit option, I have reinstalled the game multiple times, I have gone into the config and changed the memory limit to 64, I have tried the 'splotch problem 1' in the config. I have also tried Compatability mode in XPsp3, Win 7, and Win 8. All with DirectX and software mode. I suffer from the framerate issues with DirectX with all excluding XPsp3 which won't even open the game if I use the Alphabit option.

I am currently at a loss and I have seen through older threads that people have had this same issue. Any help would be an absolute godsend. I will be posting this on Larian forums just to get more eyes on my problem. Thanks in advance.

Try rebooting your computer. If I leave mine on long enough, eventually I'll get a similar problem (black textures indoors or at night, with some rainbow highlights), until I reboot (though it can also eventually go away on its own, as well).

Try the Windows 8 Performance "Patch" (works in Win 7 and 10, as well); that may let you run in DirectX mode without the frame rate drop.

Alternately, WineD3D may work better than Direct3D

In the Divine Divinity install folder, edit the config.div file (in Notepad, or other text editor) and add/edit the line rgb 555 and change the number to something else, like 565. If the line isn't there, go into the graphics options and change the gamma, or something, and it should be added, or you can do so manually (just not as the last line in the file, as the game expects that line to be blank, and ignores it).

You can try using the disk version of the configuration program, to set the game to run in Direct Draw mode. Rename or move the existing configtool.exe and NlsEng.dll files in the install folder, and extract the disk versions from the zip file below.
Note that this will reset the game resolution to what the disk version supported, but you can manually change it back by editing the config.div file.

Thank you very much for the reply Raze. I went to the GoG post you linked and used the files from the original poster on the first page, and bam! All the color is there and it runs buttery smooth with no graphical problems. Thank so much, I was started to lose my mind trying to figure out what to do!

I am having the exact same issue. But for me, I have tried all the fixes available and yet the problem persists. I'm on the verge of resigning to never having access to this game again
