I cleared most of the first map before heading to Verdistis, so didn't have any problem with the vampire.
You can always leave this until you are a higher level and/or are better prepared.
Check with merchants periodically for potions (particularly restoration potions[www.larian.com]), equipment upgrades, spell books.
If you have any silver or gold charms, have equipment with a Charm Quality and know the warrior's Enchant Weapon skill, you can permanently add charms to equipment for a bonus. If you have equipment you suspect you'll be using for some time (such as the Dragon armour set pieces), don't use lower level charms; gold charms are available in the end section of the game.
Have you tried different tactics, like standing close to the spawn point to try to attack as soon as possible, withdrawing to try ranged attacks, etc?
For a warrior, the passive Stun skill can be quite helpful.
One person in the Larian forum, playing a mage, described using Deadly Disks for this fight, knocking the vampire back into the corner by spamming that as soon as he spawned.
The Meteorstrike spell can be cast repeatedly fairly quickly, and it has a bit of a stunning effect.
Try the survivor's Curse skill, if possible. It can be cast repeatedly on a target to greatly lower their resistances (so even level 1 can be very effective), then followed up with elemental or poison damage, or skills that can be blocked by spiritual resistance.
The Burning Wall skill can also be quite effective, even at level 1, with good timing and coordination (for best effect, you need to cast the spell and run in a tight circle around a target, or group, and it can also be used to slow and damage opponents trying to follow you). In my first game I found a spell book in Mardaneus' house, and it came in handy twice (for the spider at the bottom of the catacombs and the first heavy orc south of Aleroth in a large group), though I never used it after that.
If you've been collecting trap material, or happen to have some in recent loot, the survivor's Deadly Gift skill is good at level 1, with scorpion traps.
Blind followed by Hell Spikes is an effective combinations, which one of the toughest opponents in the game will try to use on you.
If you talk to Finnigan in the cellar of the Ducal Inn and get a quest from him to steal back his lockpicks, that can help (when in your inventory, they give a +20 agility bonus). Do not complete the quest, just keep the lockpicks for yourself (they are unbreakable).
