Repair the barn

So I'm at the part where you repair the barn and need silver. I got some of the ore after digging in the mine but the Doc will only process up to bronze material. How do you get him to unlock more recipes? Is there somewhere else to go to process silver ore into those sheets needed for the quest?

Is the silver greyed out? Or not available at all?

It's greyed out just under the bronze option, I figured I have to proceed further in the story but I don't see any more quests to do besides the barn one.

that's weird you're suppose to automatically have the option to craft silver when you talk to the Doc, unless you have other side quest you need to do first. Check to see if you have a blue exclamation point on your map. You probably need to develop the village like get it to 3 stars or something to get new products
