So the protagonist HAS to be a kid.

Riddle me this:
If the Protagonist was born in the village, and the wall appeared 10 years ago, shouldn't they have known exactly what the world looked like outside of the wall?

If so, then why don't they know Nemo or the Innkeeper?

So unless the Protagonist is over the age of 10, they should

a) Not be meeting Nemo et al for the first time, since Nemo was in that other village because he couldn't return to his own village, not because he moved there before the wall appeared.
b) know exactly what the world outside looks like.


So anyone want to take a guess as to the reason for this epic plot hole?

i think the protagonist is maybe like 16/17/18 years old. That's why your char acts so childish and as kid your memory isn't always the best. Maybe thats the fact.. maybe they didn't thought about it enough.. Maybe a stone dropped on your head. who knows :D. Maybe you have a trauma 'cause your parents died at the catastrophe or are missing since then and no one is talking about it, 'cause noone want to hurt you more xD. Take it Easy.

And why aren't the NPCs not out exploring the world? They're finally free, but have no desire to explore?

To me, the biggest plot hole is that they were confined to the village this whole time. So they can’t traverse the huge wall, okay so be it. They did have access to the sea. Didn’t anyone think of building a boat and sailing around to land and bypassing the wall going this route. I mean they had more than enough wood to go this route with trees growing back every three days and all.

Alas it is just a game and I suspend my belief for the sake of the game’s creators and don’t have a personal beef with Natsume.

That would depend on how old they were when the wall appeared. Probably not much call for a kid to go adventuring outside the village. Or visit an inn or florist for that matter.

When I was 10, I did NOT know the name of the person of the store. Heck I am 32 now, and I still don't!
Living in the same town does not mean you know everyone, especially at a younger age.

to be fair I don't think it was ever exactly said they didn't know Nemo or knew the world outside you do need to keep in mind 10 years is a lot of time for Nemo and themselves to change appearance wise and not really know each other and the world would be completely new to a young adult seeing the world after 10 years especially the parts they have probably never even been to like the other towns but assuming the character is around the age of the other candidates you play someone that is 18-20 since the girl in the winter village is stated to be 20 years old
