First impressions anyone?
Since the game released so belatedly and there's just one review on steam atm I'd like to ask folks what their first impressions are? Kinda want a good Harvest Moon game, but the new series under the old name as well as the old series under Story of Seasons have not exactly made me confident enough to buy it on good hopes alone.

Theres a lot of first impression based on it being on switch earlier at least, it supposedly runs really well there.
Heard quite a few people say its finally a Natsume game that can beat SoS.

Well the fact they made everyone wait on Steam 2 days with no reason why and No Sale as it's showing full price. At present not very good.

The no information is just typical Natsume, just like all their other releases. Full price ... thats what is considered normal, the launching with a 10% of etc. is just something that has been trending with indie games. Which Harvest Moon is not :P

So Marvelous does it and that's not a indie company ;) Quite alot of non-indie companies does it.

It's £3 cheaper on Steam than the current RRP of the Switch physical edition.

Only have an hour in the game so far but honestly, it's been a blast! I'm highly impressed, it's a lot better than SOS wonderful life (obvs not the same) but still! The graphics are very adorable and I'm having sm fun! The only thing that's a bit iffy to me is the price tag.

My fave game of the series was HM back to nature.... after the split i just played the SoS games 'cause the Natsume Games didn't impressed me.. but lately i'm disappointed of SoS Pioneers of olive Town aswell... so i thought i give HM The Winds of Anthos a try. The Lag of Communication and the upcoming DLCs made me a bit angry but anyways i'm bought the game today. Very sceptical and with the option to refund it.

1h ingame and i'm positive:
--> The Grafic is cute and i like it alot
(honestly i'm not for the "baby artstyle" some of the series had).
--> No Nostaögia at this time but thats ok.
--> The animation feeling good
(not to slow or overacting).
--> The Character you play seems a bit naiv/dumb in the story conversations
(based on the (face)animation and the story acting)
--> The music is really lovely!
--> You can adjust the settings ingame not in the titlescreen.
--> You can customize your Character at the Beginning and after that ingame.
--> You can customize your Home.

I'm curious how it will be after the tutorial/story part.

Natsume used to be pretty communicative. I can't blame them for cutting back on it with the sheer amount of toxicity in the fanbase. Look at how many posts in this board are still just "Hur dur It's not Harvest moon" 10 years later.

I would honestly need therapy if I were handling their social media, and I worked in a customer facing call center for 3 years.

Well, thanks everyone. But please leave the Natsume/Marvelous gripe for elsewhere. I'm genuinely interested in what folks think on THIS game.

Feeling a bit like a Pokemon xD. You live in a small town than you have to explore the world and everybody wish you much fun on your journey :D. And some Characters have Graphicstyle like pokemon tho. Doc Jr. as example has imo those vibes :D.

Well at present its way better than One World that's for sure. For one thing at least Natsume "Harvest Moon" sticks with the goddess and sprites and hasn't gone off track.

My current only negative impression is getting stuck on ledges everywhere, making me waste time walking around and around and around, when I'd much prefer just being able to jump down.
My fix to the annoyance is to suicide to end the day ...

Stamina is garbage, the world is empty, it freezes every couple of minutes, and the people are not super interesting. I will say it is better than Wonderful life but that doesn't take much. If I could run around without it feeling like walking through jello in a void, I'd be ecstatic. Even the warp stones only help so much. Getting from one side of the starting town to the other is a whole journey. Also, I have to put fences around the garden patches to "protect" the plants from storms. Hate that
Everything is cute and once I find a million stamina booting acorn fruit things, it will only be sort of meh.

I’m having a blast after 2 hours , Enjoying the exploration , it feels like one world but more open ,spent several in game days just running around. I got home at 3:30am one day. lol! No forced bedtime during that. After getting lost. I’ve found tons of animals, different ones appear at night, working on befriending them. Found the desert and snowy mountains. I love how the game encourages interaction to grow the town rep to unlock more things.

I do have a gripe about the ledges and not being to jump around or off some of them. And the small map in areas you haven’t fully completed the story being greyed out. I get lost a lot lol! it’s fun though.

Tip: Just pick wild mushrooms and apples/fruit. I’ve been surviving off those and gifting them. Most areas have 1-2 trees and they give off 2-3 apples each. They fill stamina pretty well. The stamina is realistic for the long journey, after figuring out the apples thing I haven’t fainted.

It’s definitely different. And fun. There’s clearly more but so far I’m enjoying the open world part a lot. It’s one world but expanded and more 3D

No freezing or stuttering on my steam deck, and it doesn’t burn through the battery fast 🥳
