you have to cheese almost all the missions, crusader is better for a first time player imo

I don't think so. If you're buying it and complaining about difficulties later, the old-timers and fanboys will call it you 'skill issue,' even from moderators would insult you.

As synka said, from dev side, they let old glitch still exist to finish some mission... rather than solving and give balance to the game...

I think the campaign is pretty fair and good for beginners with a few notable roadblocks of difficulty peaks or new elements you'll trip over on the way. When I played it first time I don't remember being too frustrated. If you follow the tutorial and campaigns I think you'll enjoy it just like I or others did when it came out originally. It wasn't designed back in the day to be only welcoming to super pro strategy game masters or something, so don't worry about that.

If you do hit a wall and after a few tries you can't get anywhere (do try some patience and experimentation though!) you can always come here and ask for some help and advice. There will be parts you might end up cheesing but that's okay it's all playing with the rules as is and will get you through the tough parts. :)

If you have any prior experience with RTS games then this should be quite easy to pick up. The only thing that might cause a stumble is that the UI is quite un-intuitive, but the 21 campaign missions kind of ease you into things in showing you where all the stuff are.

Baring 2 missions in the campaign, you don't really need to micromanage unless you're playing on harder difficulties.

That is a huge bs.

Yes, it's easy to understand and the military campaign does a great job introducing you to the game. You should be able to get pretty far into it before real challenges appear, assuming you play on Easy. Mission 15 is generally where most people hit their road blocks.

Okay thx, I think I will try it.

LUL, you have to manage the dumbass movement of unit contantly not doing their task... ...
mission 21 is bs

The game has a lot of difficulties options, and the campaign doesn't ramp too fast. On higher difficulties it is one of the more difficult RTS to play as it has so many resources and production lines that all have to be managed very quickly but you can clear combat missions without even building units early on so it takes a very timid approach to the learning process. Everything does have a pretty logical through line atleast with things. As with any RTS you'll need to learn how to multi task but that's just the core of RTS like aiming is for a shooter.

This is so completely wrong unless you play on the highest of difficulties.
The OG campaign is usual stuff, mission 15/18/21 are hard.

But the new campaign is like ridiculously difficult

Yeah, if you play on easy it's really a breeze with little challenge until 15, the classic roadblock.

That's a shame. A little patience and you could have had a great game experience. Especially as the forums would have been happy to advise and there's a lot of guides on the internet, YT and so on.

Wish you had just mentioned what was giving you trouble. For the first few missions all you need to know if how to place buildings with the middle menu. Everything else slowly expands from there. Even knowing how to control the camera isn't really nessisary for the first mission.

Archers/crossbowmen on high ground is all you need for most missions.
