New DLC - delusional lack of involvement
Welcome,

Firstly I want to explain my honest disappointement about new castles that will be included to Wolf's DLC. Money isn't any issue beacuse I am about to buy it anyways (playing this game for almost fifteen years straight and appriciate developer's effort), but tell what's wrong with your "castle builders" or so called "map makers"? Have you ever seen Ogrodzieniec castle before? Just one simple picture, maybe its scheme, just once. Seriously I can forgive you that Malbork Castle doesn't look similar, Nidzica castle looks even close but still doesn't match its substitute. To be honest it seems like your castle builder did his job in 15 minutes or faster and eventually got paid for it or maybe he is charity worker idk, but you can simply make those castles within one week of work (I mean by "make those castles" something more accurate than this) and please your community with something better than -2/10 castle. I hope that Ogrodzieniec trailer picture is a low quality joke... . To prove you my rights I recommend to check my workshop which is fullified with castles that belong to the same fortification system and how they looks like. Few of them need some patching but overall effort I've made for free is embarassing against your paid job. In the nearest future you can expect mine version of Ogrodzieniec castle beacuse it is the one of the latest on my list. I hope you will take these honest words seriously, my beloved developers.

Hi there,

The Polish castles are in the free Spring update, not the paid DLC.

Isn't the main issue that the map quality is poor, (and/or not accurate to real world castles,) not what DLC/update it belongs to?

I 'suppose what the level designers need to make is a playable/fun level, not a historically accurate one that isn't any good.

The sad thing is how little work they put into these maps. It seems to me that Firefly employees are lazy and don't care at all what state the game is in (yes I know, we keep saying it's a small studio). Just to release a new Stronghold and some DLC to make money. Since November I have been sending them emails with a list of bugs or simple ideas that would improve this Stronghold Edition. None of them have been implemented. We are in 2024 and the developers are unable to provide smooth multiplayer gameplay. These new campaigns are also done on speed. 1 or 2 sentences through the whole mission and that's it. This game has so much potential to be much better. But the developers have a problem to add, for example, more modes in multiplayer.

I'm currently playing Stronghold Warlords and I can see that here they went for the smallest line of resistance. It's a copy of Stronghold Crusader 2, which was a copy of Stronghold 3, with a pitifully small unit limit, already with 3 players on the maps. And the campaign? 2-3 sentences for the first mission and the same for the last mission. They don't even want to write a story anymore. They can't top what they did in first Stronghold 20 years ago.

Hey man. I'm not going to get in a back and forth with you, and please don't feel like I'm also angry at you. Just wanted to say that tbh Stronghold games have been in a decline for well over a decade. Alot of people are really frustrated with Firefly for completely changing the formula, and it seems now they're focused on releasing meh games with silly lists of DLC additions that are either average, bad, or should have been in the game from the start. Take a look at Warlords and it's DLC list. Its laughable.
They're also heavily focused on garbage mobile games that obviously have alot of monetisation and deliberately disrespect player time to entice extra spending.

That's just largely my opinion of course, mixed in with the well know and easily accessible ratings of Stronghold games since SH1. I think I still speak for many other fans when I say I'm really truly disappointed with the quality that Firefly puts out. A good example of that is back to this game actually... they weren't even able to release it with a working multiplayer... that's just sad, and that's coming from a fully solo single player person.

Firefly have changed into a slither of the company it used to be. Nice looking games with no soul and extra charges. $$$$$$$

Brother, with the main project in mind, are you talking about Stronghold Warlords? About that remodeled Stronghold Crusader 2, which was a remodeled Stronghold 3? About that game, what they announced it from 2018? They didn't even bother to put some graphics on the game interface. A beautifully narrated campaign consisting of 2 lines of text. So many maps accommodating 8 players. Oh, wait, limit up to 50 units.

I played thoug hwhole stronghold warlords campaign and I had a lot of fun, I will be honest, I don't mind the dlcs since they are not part of the game and they are mostly just bonus content that is simply here if player enjoyed the base game and wants more, the multiplayer one release was broken for short amount of time, issues like that happen to every game, about mobile games, the only one I have ever heard of are stronghold: kingdoms and Rome: age of cesar
stronghold games never had change in formular, you first build woodcuters then take care of food, games need to be diffirent in order for people to buy them, tbh, the only mediocare stronghold game is Stronghold 3, the entire rest is really good. stronghold 1 in my opinion is kinda overrated, and tbh DE really did a good job at making it much better expierience imo, new graphics, QoL changes and new content brough back life to this game. Stronghold crusader was a great game, best in the series imo. Stronghold 2 was also really good, great economic and military campaign. Stronghold legends has a cool fraction system and a lot of fraction specific units with their own mechanics. Stronghold 3 is there I guess, its okay but you probaly know the story on how this game failed. stronghold crusader 2 is good, though there are better games than it imo. Stronghold Warlords is best 3D stronghold imo, very good new mechanics like: unit collision, warlord system, explosives etc.
I just feel like everyone are hating on firefly becouse they are blinded with 2d nostalgia

idk what are you yapping about becouse I can't understand what are you even talking about, what I mean is that main firefly team is rn working on stronghold: unreal (this is just a code name btw), and the second team is the one working on DE.
the unit caps in newer game's multiplayer can be changed in the lobby settings (they are low by default so people won't blow up their PCs)

You do realise that making a perfect replica of the castle in game and making it a fun mission to play are not necessarily compatible?

Warlords is the best game they'd made in at least a decade, and the first one I enjoyed right away since the original Crusader. And their DLC policy which is basically that they're completely optional (and actually feel like *added* stuff and not things that got ripped out of the base game) and for low prices is one of the most reasonable around.

It really pisses me off these days how studios genuinely doing good work with modest resources get bashed for the most insignificant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, while the genuine AAA culprits which produce the most radioactive sludge just get away with it for the most part.

I love Stronghold but they have been selling the same game for 22 years so yes we can expect a bit of work.
