Due to the rampant piracy of DRM-free game versions, probably not.

The game uses steam multiplayer.

Stronghold 2 steam edition and stronghold legends steam edition did not release outside of steam for the same reason

Games get pirated anyway no matter if DRM or not. DRM is only for pissing of honest customers.
Though I would like to know if this game comes on GoG too or is at least from the Steam version playable just from the Exe without Steam because I want to install it on Laptop of my uncle who is a big Stronghold lover but things like requiring to install steam and then having to play from a launcher are just modern disimprovements.

Sounds like your best option is to buy a second copy for yourself and then pirate it for your uncle (technically you paid for it twice so its not stealing)

Associating DRM Free with pirating is not really smart.
But you do you i guess.

well, i mean the UELA of pretty much every game always says that you are not allowed to share the game with others and that the license you bought only allows you personally to play the game, DRM free or not.

And who has mentioned the will to share the game?

There are a few games that i want to preservate. This is all.
I am shocked by the lack of knowledge of many players

Steam has family share as a feature built in. Easy to forget. When you sell on Gabe's platform you do so under his rules.

All Stronghold games end up on GOG so I hope so.

And by law you are allowed to do that because sharing a licensed product among the same social group (aka family) is allowed in areas like EU.
Its called household usage. You are even allowed to create copies.
GoG.com is not a platform of pirates and any game should use the platform to sell a game as long as its possible.

Take a look at any torrent site, GOG games are dominant, why share cracked games when drm free ones are readily available. I stand by my statement, GOG games fuel piracy.

Technically in the US you can make personal backup copies of software disks too. Falls under the home recording act which let's you make personal backup copies of music, movies, and software. It was passed after they tried to ban vcr and tape recorders for home use.

Before gog every game was still on torrent sites too so literally nothing has changed.

Not really. Plenty of games are released with DRM (and are not released on GOG or any other DRM-free store), yet they're present on those websites, of course cracked. Day-one crack is also very common nowadays.

People who pirate games don't care about DRM or its lack, they will download the available version, cracked or not. DRM makes a difference for actual buyers, as they have to deal with the DRM.
