I've never played Stronghold before...

Hello guys, I'm really curious about play this mitic saga for the first time but there's a lot of Stronghold games and I don’t know which one to start with.

I'm thinking about one of these (including Stronghold DE):

- Stronghold HD (2012)

Stronghold definitive edition is a remaster of "Stronghold HD (2012)". Stronghold HD (2012) is also a remaster of Stronghold becasue game is over 20 years old, original version is not available on steam.

Imo you should start with "Stronghold Definitive Edition" becasue it is the first stronghold game but with improved graphics, QoL and new campaign.

Simply Stronghold Definitive Edition is a Stronghold re-remaster. Release will be tomorrow and it costs 15$ so I think it is the best way to start with stronghold games right now :)

Stronghold Crusader is as good as Stronghold, i just wouldnt Recomend Stronghold Crusader 2

For such small price (especially on sales) i would buy all Stronghold series games if i were you , tons of fun and really worth it

Ok, I already just bought both: Crusader HD and Stronghold HD 2012 (for a ridiculously small price, as you said), and tomorrow I'll decide if I'll buy Stronghold: DE

I played the Stronghold DE demo and it looked great but if you wanna play other one I recommend stronghol crussader, the best of the series

I somehow doubt a remake is $15, unless they really aren't confident about their series popularity versus AoE2 DE

It is 14.99 USD. It's a remaster of a 20 year old game, and it doesn't include Skirmish mode, so it's a fair price. There will be also be free and paid for updates/DLC.

Stronghold 2 is well worth checking out. I’d argue with anyone the campaign is far better than this or crusade. Also with a crime system unlike any of the other games.

Yea I really liked the Soundtrack of SH 3 and it's buggy but i really enjoyed the campaigns.

Stronghold 3 looks really good and the music is on point it was just a huge downgrade from the 2nd game in terms of content and the building had set spaces unlike the previous titles where you could pretty much put things side to side you couldn't in 3 there always had to be this huge gap.

True:) Tried it, it does not cost much, but I have to agree, I am huge fan of Stronghold for many many years, but I was not able to finish S3.
It it so many things wrong on that game, so many bugs, it has a bit better graphics than S2 but that is all, it lacks content/options, there is like 1/2 of content/options from previous games.

It is dark, okay, but too dark. So yea, I have it, but I will never ever play it again. S1, Crusader, S2 is something totally different :) also Crusader 2 is fine. So I look forward for this DE and for Stronghold Next, which will hopefully combine what was best in S1 and S2 :)
